Please help me understand the laws regarding marijuana. California medical marijuana; dispensaries have to be a cooperative or collective? A walk-in patient is not considered a member of the coop/collective? If those two statements are true, then how are there so many dispensaries operating? Do the cops just not shut you done until there's a reason to go there?
I am interested in learning how you legally go about growing marijuana for dispensaries, in California as well as other states. Thanks your any feedback!

You can grow for dispensaries that you are a member of, but you might want to find out if they need your supply. Some will take unknown vendors and some will not. Dispensaries can be a collectives or cooperatives. Collectives are easier, because they don't really have to go through the narrow specifications of a co-op. Cops will shut down a dispensary when they are told to, by the D.A. or city council or when they work with the Feds. So, pay your taxes. They will probably leave you alone.
Keep on growing. :)

No such thing as a walk in patient in CA. And my outfit is a Co-op. Elemental Wellness in San Jose. It means we sell to ourselves at retail, and we buy from ourselves at wholesale.

Each County is different in whether they will even allow it, but as of today, I think there maybe only one hold out, Imperial Co. Or maybe by now, they are Compassionate, too.

Next is the Cities. Most Cities in my County don't allow a clinic. But, they all allow home delivery. Goddess Delivers is the main one that has no store fronts.

Next is Zoning, if they allow it. Each CiIty can Zone how they want to.

Next is licensing. We just had an license auction and it was very restricted, because to apply you have to have a space that is Zoned. And prime Zoned space is $40K a month.

Most important is Self Rule. The City Council of San Jose is the shot caller. They meddle and piss around, every year, with new bullshit rules. They latest was "obscure packaging." Whatever. But it still nothing in the way of Colorado's heavy control over the recreational market. San Jose is bent around not letting the Humbolt growers have access to the market.
It not only must be grown locally. It has to be grown by members of the co-op, or the clinic has to also support it's own greenhouse operations. That is out of the question.

So.....there it is. I can sell back. But, they are not very favorable to me, make me wait for an hour, drop off 1 lb min, for testing, etc unless and until I am trusted to deliver on a fairly constant basis.
