FWIW: Migraine strains

My wife has terrible migraines. Most strains don't seem to help, but in my last crop I grew Cannatonic clone and a Harlequin clone. Smoking the Cannatonic does not do much for me or my old lady, but one time I tried mixing Cannatonic with Girl Scout Cookies about 50/50 and smoking it in a joint. My wife said it not only kicked her ass but also seemed to work on the migraine, for a while at least. After that, we were out of GSC, so I tried a mix of Cannatonic and Ken's GDP and that worked so well that my wife "confiscated" all the GDP to make sure it would be available for her to smoke with the Cannatonic. Next time I'll have to grow more GDP. Neither of us has tried the Harlequin yet, but I plan to mix it in with some other indica-dominant strain to see if it ups the potency and works for my wife's migraines.

If anyone cares, I got around to testing the Harlequin mixed with GSC and GDP. My wife did not like the mixtures with Harlequin, but will continue to test it out when she has migraines to see if the first time was just a fluke. The Harlequin mix gave me a moderate buzz and actually seemed to help me get to sleep, which is a plus for me because I often have insomnia.

That sucks dude. I've suffered from headaches my whole life. It's the worst.
I get tension AND migraines. Weed has never helped. I've tried over and over. Just makes it worse:-(
If I take ibuprofen early enough, I can usually avoid a full blown tension headache. There are a lot of new headache drugs out now. One that my ex-wife swares by. I'll ask her what it is, and get back.
I just finally got insurance again. It's the first thing I'm going to get prescribed.

I feel your pain man. My own wife confiscated ALL the Durga Mata II CBD strain from our last harvest. She uses it medicinally for a myriad of health and pain-related issues. So, I'm left smoking the shitty, leafy sleestack skunk (freebie). If I had anything else to smoke, I'd throw that shit into cannabudder. Nevermind overgrowing the government, I just wanna overgrow THE WIFE ! :P

That's just the thing, headaches are apparently so complicated that what works for one person will not necessarily help anyone else. My wife takes Tramadol a lot, but apparently that is a pseudo-opiate type drug so the MDs don't like to keep refilling the Rx for it.

I really did not believe that cannabis did much for arthritis pain until my wife noticed that when she went out of town and did not take something along to smoke, her pain would start acting up and not get better until she got back and started smoking again. Then I had to stop taking NSAIDs for a while because of a stomach problem, and I was surprised that the pain did not come back. I really think the cannabis is the reason for that. And the topicals seem to work great for sore joints and muscles.
