Extraction info

Hey all, just got my closed column extractor in, vac chamber will be here within the week, and my bucket of trim is all excited to get blasted, butanes cozy in the freezer waitin.....

Thing is, this will be my first run with the serious equipment, not just a honeybee and a small pyrex dish...

I'm looking for direct, useful, pertinent, how-to information.... temps, vac levels, times, details/tips learned the hard way, etc....

RIU is a great place to look at bud porn, but when it comes to looking for a straight up how-to... its a mess of broken image links, and 240page posts... and the search function males you want to cut people, lol...

(Also, if anyone wants to throw a detailed how-to on winterization, that'd be put to good use too)

(All my stuff came from bestvaluevacs, except the vac pump.... my dad has 3, so I will save the $ there)

Not a link to a forum page that isnt a tutorial/guide with just that...

Again, RIU has a lot of "Look at mine!" but imagine for a moment if someone came in wanting to blast oil for the first time. and signed up for this site....

Try it... Wipe your mind for a moment, and try to locate the needed info to go from zero info to safe quality shatter...

End goal: To have all the needed info to create a single guide, with no youtube links, no broken pics, and locked, so the information you want is never buried on page 213...

Not Rick Simpson Oil, not QWISO, not a tincture, not cannabutter...

Today all I care about it BHO, butane... everything else can be tabled until after the initial goal is fulfilled...

There never gonna be a direct unchanged guide due to the fact that most people here are always talking together to IMPROVE their techs. Improvements happen alot from beginning of thread til page 213.

The stickies tend to have what you need. Skumkpharm is a great site for it. RIU is not an all-in-one-place tutorial though and many peeps here get annoyed when someone wants the easy way out.

Lio is right as well. I'm in to e-juices and I remember some guy gtting pissed because we all ahd different method, preferences, experiences and he wanted hard science.

I've been making bho for 6 years...
Yeah don't get pissed when you don't just find one method. There are multiple.
YOU just have to pick the way you like most and feel is going to be the quickest extraction. Not whine when people do give you info just because there are so many ways to do it. PICK-N-CHOOSE.

I agree with lio. The method is always being refined and updated. But if you don't know the basics you better start reading. Oh and being on actually helps because you can get replies! Just ask. Make it simple and you'll get simple answers

My first time on this site I read the first 15 pages to this forum.

https://www.rollitup.org/t/have-you-successfully-made-rso-phoenix-tears-cannabis-oil-lets-talk.860999/

All your basic info is there. Don't be to impatient to read or learn.
Start reading. You should already have a standard basis. Yeah there is stuff you will already know. But I guarantee that you will learn something if you just start reading.

Like the fact that I learned that bho butter comes after shatter. After I learned that I read a bit more and within the next 3 days I turned 15 grams of snap and pull taffy into 15 grams of bho butter... You just have to be willing to read and learn

You posted that link already... and on page 3 of that post YOU mention that you use butane -> water bath -> vac....

That is the extent of information that I am seeking available on that post.... I don't want QWISO, I don't want a tincture, I am not doing CO2 extraction, and I'm not using alcohol to extract, whether ethyl methyl or everclear...... All of which ARE discussed in that post...

On average... roughly.... what temp do you vac purge at, and at what vac level? (I am looking for shatter, not the fluffy crumbly stuff, n preferably not gooey...)

To get shatter I put in the vac at full vac (-30hg) and put my skillet on warm (lowest setting) it slowly heats up. I keep vac at constant -30hg. ( I have to turn it on and keep vaccing until it's not muffining anymore.

At that point my oil temp usually gets to about 95f the longer it sits the higher the temp gets. I usually leave at full -30hg vac and low temp while I sleep. About 10-12 hours lol. By the time I get up. I have shatter. It will break into chuncks but won't really stick to you allowing you to mold and play with it. When I woke up I checked the temp of my oil and it was 112.6f

At room temp it shattered like glass. I warm it with my hand and I'm able to mold sculpt and play with it without losing any or getting gooey.

Try pulling vacuum on your closed loop system prior to filling. I love how willingly the butane goes in or any solvent for that matter. If an accident happened where the tip broke, the worst case scenario is you pull in air but save your butane from splashing out. You may want a check valve so no vacuum is lost from the loop. The solvent now has a lower boiling point and in the case of propane it stays in its liquid state much better and fills fuller w ease. Propane goes supercritical at 207F and 650 psi which is way easy to obtain.
