Noobie Coco Grow

I understood that the canna should keep me from having calmg problems. Im thinking I may just try upping the coco a+b. If It doesn't help ill have to add calimagic

I am getting great results with my all coco hempys using Jacks HydroFeed 16-4-17 + Epsom salt ( and their 10-30-20 bloom booster during flower) for what its worth..

I have used canna coco for years and canna A+B before. I assure you if you up the food and SLIGHTLY raise the ph more Ca and Mg will be available to the plant. Here is a chart showing how much of each nutrient type is available at the corresponding ph level. No need to argue about it just try it out and if it helps than problem solved!




Here is a shot of my ladies currently in Cana with a ph of 6.1 These girls are only at day 35 and already needing to be tied up. Hope this fixes your issues and good luck down the stretch!!!

Right cause adding more nutrients NEVER leads to lockout issues. When I click on the B on your avatar I am shown a giant picture of a plant with major issues w crinkled brittle leaves, comical. Cana has designed their nutrients specifically for their coco, I have seen the rare occasion where a CaMg supplement is needed but def not at 400ppm.

Advanced nutrients grand master lineup + calimagic PH @ 5.8 feeding everyday.

I just refilled my res. Im sitting at 6.1ph and 600ppm and its set to water every other day, 30 min after lights come on

Also what the hell is this white stuff? This is straight coco, no perlite. Is it salt build up or something? Its on the top of all the coco.

Ahah! Yes buy some CalMag+ from botanicare, add 2ml per gallon. Canna was designed for tap water which has micronutrients as well. As you raise the ppm you will need to raise the CalMag also peaking at no more than 5ml per gallon. I feel like a dunce for not asking about the RO before.

Ahhhh. Ill have to grab some Saturday from tthe hydro store. I hear Calimagic is pretty awesome too. Should i get something with all micronutrients or just concentrate on the Cal and mag? Jesus, and i thought i did all my research....

You can go w either they are very similar, I just prefer botanicare myself. RO water is killer but it does require more vigilance. Once you get it dialed in you will reap the benefits. Should be fun to see how they do once you add the CalMag! Yes you will need the micronutrients as well.

Only feeding once every few days in pure coco is not optimal. You're not getting everything you could out of the medium. If these are young seedlings, that's a different story. Once a root system is established you can flood them multiple times daily, bottom feed in between, or just do basic "pulse" watering however many times per day you would like. Before the root system is fully established, however, you want to let the medium dry out in much the same way you would with soil to make the roots "search" for moisture. Once you have that root system and the plant is humming along it is remarkably difficult to overwater coco. Just make sure you're always feeding any time you water, never put plain water through.

I also saw calmag mentioned a lot -- if you're using coco-specific nutes it is unlikely that you will need a calcium or magnesium supplement unless you are using R/O water.

I'm still learning with coco too, only used it a few times. Having good success with tapwater and Canna A + B alone, see the thread in my sig.

Ok. Ill grab some calimagic and micronutes tomorrow at my hydro shop. My plants have been in the coco for 10 days now so Im still letting the coco dry some, hence the every other day waterings. Once I switch to flowering should I start feeding once a day then up it as necessary?

Somebody else might have a different opinion, but in my experience so far you should water as often as the root system and environment allows it with coco.

I got that. But being new to coco Im a unsure of how dry is too dry. Its a little strange for me to water them while the coco still looks dark and moist since im so used to soil...

Not necessary to let it totally dry out, but overwatering will stunt root development in early growth. You'll just have to get a feel for it. Best to wait until at least the top is dry imo.
