KISS my Hempy

Thank you very much for the replies. I'm going to settle for the 2 L bottles instead of the beer cans for my next grow :D But I am facing a conundrum with my current grow in hempy. I've decided I want to harvest my plant in 2 parts (tops first then the rest 5 days later), but I need some advice as to how to go about flushing my system.

2 litre pop bottles are proven winners, so good choice....attached is a pic using 2L pop bottles....I like green pop bottles because it blocks the light but still allows you to view the roots

no need to flush a hempy as it really provides no logical value....you can back off your nutes for a short while before harvest, but even that is optional

a word of caution about harvesting via top then waiting*.

*some strains do not like..cotton candy for example..womp ass 5'+ indoor sat dom..she could have gone 100, but i chose to top (someone here suggested) and wait for the bottom..bad move..she shocked soooo bad; fans all yellowed and fell off which defeated the purpose of the top to finish.

This year I thought I would try growing in my living room/dinning room but it didn't work out well for me or the plants.

I couldn't control the heat and was seeing signs of stress on the gals as their colour was becoming a pale green

The noise from the fans and ballast was annoying and I had to keep my blinds closed, so I gave up on this idea
P1200009.JPG

I have relocated to the spare bathroom (which I have used before)...the temps are better
P1250020.JPG

I have the heat producing ballast outside the room, and a bathroom fan and a stand-up fan bringing in cooler air
P1240012.JPG

The temps are around 77-78 F, as such they are looking much better today
P1250019.JPG

feed them this morning....you can't see the soil cap anymore as the medium settled down so I added some perlite over the soil cap.... I ran out of soil
P1250015.JPG

and this is why I love green pop bottles...you can see how the roots are progressing

You know I was ready to dismiss you on that whole "no need to flush" thing but after I looked into it more you're absolutely right. Thanks man

I see. One of the things I was worried was keeping pathogens out of the resulting "wounds" and plant shock. I'm gonna look more into it soon

I'm running full nutes now and have the gals under a 600 watt HPS....a few pics on mixing the nutes

The Lucas formula says 7 grams per US gallon (3.89 litres) but I use gun powder scales which are in grains (107.4 grains = 7 grams)

So since I'm only mixing 1 litre, I use 27 grains of nutes per litre....or approx a heaping 1 ml spoon full
View attachment 3337537

Then I use a Pace Picante jar with about a cup of hot water, add nutes then use a milk frothier to mix (I can leave it in the jar mixing while preparing the next step)
View attachment 3337542

Then I fill the mason jar 3/4 full of cold water and add about 1 ml of Cal-Mag
View attachment 3337544

Then add pH up....I use about 0.5 ml...then add another drop or two if required
View attachment 3337547

Then test the pH using GH drops....add more pH+ if require
View attachment 3337548

then water as required

Maxi series and cal mag? Is that all you use? I'm gonna get some Maxibloom and I guess some cal mag. I have my ph Up/Down. Thanks bro. Looking great.

I flush too. Won't argue that it does any good lol. I generally just use straight PH water the last week and let it dry out good for a few days before cutting. I've heard the argument both ways, so I don't really know.

yeah...a lot of opposing opinions on flushing soil or hydro..... but most hempy growers do not flush, some will run straight water for a week or two

yes...MaxiGro/Bloom with 1ml of Cal-Mag per litre and pH+ with plain water straight out the tap....and your final feeding should be about 65 F +/- ...that's about it

I noticed you water every 2 days. Is that feed water? Or do u always feed with nutes? I need to read up a bit more on the Hempy method. And those mature plants you showed in the bottles are over the top. Thanks.

always feed with nutes...except for the first 2 weeks..... and maybe the last week or so, if you so wish ;-)

i did that last round too, drying in place..why not? <shrug>..worked fine and in theory allows more uptake of final nutrients = sweeter IMHO.

Been sunny and warm....several windows open, so lot of fresh air plus decent sunshine makes 3 happy gals
The pop bottles are bone dry after 48 hours, even after 36 hours they are light..... I now need to mix up 2 litres of nutes per feeding

Looking beautiful ISK. Question.

I have never had to use PH up before with GH Flora series. Or anything else for that matter.

Ive never used Maxibloom and CalMag before. Is it the Maxibloom and/or CalMag that reduces 7 PH water to the 4 and 5 PH range?

No big deal I've always had to PH, but always PHed down from 6s to the target 5.8-6.

Just curious and thanks.

Having to water them every 36 hours as 2 of 3 were drooping after 48 hours....starting to mix in some MaxiBloom

The Dwarf Low Flyer was the first to show pre-flowers, the Early Miss just started to pre-flower.....
this is so ironic as last summer the EM require 12/12 to trip into flowering. and the Revolver was very aggressive, and now is the slow-poke...go figure

So. Let's say a dude has knowledge and thinks it's all good. All of a sudden, after he watches you thread and pics he's like damn. I got stuff to learn.

Said dude, follows your formula and in a moment of drunkedness, measures out 7 grams and 1 ml of CalMag in 1/2 gallon of water. Basically, twice the reco Lucas formula. And he anxiously awaits lights on to discover his plants have basically gone nuts! And doubled in size with no nute burn. It's a beautiful thing.

Yeah it hit the res.

LOL. Making fun of myself. Awesomeness. Thanks. It's true.

I think it's safe to say the Dwarf Low Flyer is in flower mode

and the Revolver still has no preflowers

group pic....funny how the dwarf (far left) is bigger than the others...that may change in time

Autos are cool. Kinda like House plants Eh ? Are you using your fluros under your cabinet ? Im gonna string some out all over the house. lol
exactly....auto's are plug & play...no worries, no hassle, no light leaks/schedules, just do what ever works best for your lifestyle.

as you know with my previous Indoor Sunshine Grows, they sit in the living room along side the other house plants....all you do is water, smoke a joint and watch them grow...only problem is you can spend a lot of time watching....becomes additive

I used CFL's for about 2 weeks, then mixed CFL with an old HPS bulb, first at 50% then 75 then 100%... now only using a brand new 600 watt bulb

BTW...... it's not a cabinet but rather in a bath tub, just without the water :)
