hey guys I'm from India and this is going to be my first ever grow I'm 17 years old and looking to get out of the crappy bud that we have here. I have a grower area set up at my friends place and just needed confirmation. I'm growing auto flowering strains I got from pyramid seeds, auto galaxy as well as auto super hash. Not expecting too much since its the first try . I'm gonna use fairely large 4-5 litre or larger pots. I'm using a coco peat soilless mix base with some perlite I purchased. I'm using a mylar as a reflecting agent on my grow box and I'm using a 6×20 watt CFL bulbs= 120 watts from start to finish. This is pretty much what my budget permits m . Not many nutrient suppliments readily available. So is this fine? And how often would I have to water. Would love the responses from you pros! :)

Welcome my friend, it's nice to hear from you. You seem to have planned well, and hopefully with the knowledge you can acquire here, you can grow some nice bud. The system you are starting with is functional, and should work ok. How many plants are you dealing with, and what kind of area are you growing in? I would start with 5 seeds, if you want 3 plants. The reason being you should expect 1 seed to fail, ( hopefully none) If all germinate, you will then choose the healthiest plants, and hopefully you will have 3 nice plants to start with. As far as water with coco/ perlite/peat, I would water lightly every 2nd day, just keeping the medium moist. Do not let it dry out, but do not drown them. Good luck, and keep coming back.

Cannot thank you enough for the quick response my friend. The grow room is my friends bedroom. Which is very clean. Does the lighting sound alright? And I've the 2 seeds as of now. My friends ordered a motherload ranging from ak to widow and northern lights for the 120 watts is it okay to grow 3 plants?

And also your most sure fire way of germination as well as the coco/perlite/soil mix ratio

Hey India, how's the weather over there. I heard the monsoons are awesome. Have you ever experienced any?
Back to bud, your lighting is marginal for more than 2 plants with reflectors. Have to keep them close, so what I would do is double what you have and you will pretty good. Build reflector boxes to surround you plant (white flat paint) and you should be alright. PM me if you desire. Do you have Christmas trees in India?
You made a typo about your age, right? I know, the 7 is right next to the 7, shit I did it again. I meant to hit the 8. Point being, you are 18, RIGHT?

Foolproof method to germinate a seed, with no soaking, scarifying, paper towels, rockwool Jiffy pellets, Rapid Rooters, all of which suck in my opinion. I use germination or seed starter mix, and I use very small peat seed starter pots, this way I germ in the same pot that I will transplant with. No transplant shock ever, and the roots never get bound because they grow right thru the peat pot.The mix is light, holds just enough moisture, your seed has the ability to adjust itself, not being forced by some dense peat or that foam shit that they make Rapid Rooters out of. Place the seed 1/4" deep in a moist seed starter mix, cover with some Saran wrap (loosly), if possible place on top of something warm, and in 3-4 day's, your little babies will be popping their itsy bitty heads up, to greet you. The seed will emerge effortlessly from the mix, breathing in the refreshing CO2, and pointing it's little leaves towards all those CFL'S.
I find that germinating in the same container that you want the seed to grow in is the best method. Paper towels, you have to be very careful, too careful in my book. The other rooters are just devices to sell, and are bad for the seed in my opinion. In my case now I am growing my plants in a drip system with hydroton, and I just bury the cube in the pebbles, and away it goes. Same for soil. I pick my final pot, fill it with whatever, bury my little peat pot. Done. No transplant (hardly) Happy growing

The monsoons get pretty intense here man. Definitely. Rains also quite unpredictable which rules out outdoor grow quite a bit of the year as well. Yeah I am 18 lol sorry to build you up like that! And as a matter of fact we do I have a Christmas tree growing in my compound. So you suggest I upgrade to a 240 watt 12 bulb CFL light?

I guess seed starter mix is a bit hard to come buy as well. Due to the lack of enthusiasm and effort down here LOL. And the peat pot is what exactly? Just a cut up piece of compressed coco peat or a readily available germination pot?

They seem to be what you need, at least close enough. Just be careful as not to bury the seed too deep. 1/4" at the deepest, as that most plugs that I have dealt with have a tendency to inhibit the emergence of the plant. Keep the seed loose, do not pack it firmly in pellets, which is what those are. They will do the job.

YES, that is pretty much exactly what you need, as long as it comes with a mix for seedlings. I'm kinda stoned right now, so to make it clear. The one's with the cells, that is what you want. The little puck fuckers, are a distant second to the other, but will work, you just have to be wary about depth of seed, because sometimes they struggle to get free of the material they are buried in. That's why I use germinating mix. No hindrance to the sprout. Hey Geronimo ( that will be your code name, seeing as he was an Indian also, but different from you) PM me, because we shouldn't have to meet like this, forever. But, I am in front of my computer now, so let's chat. This is funny, because I feel like I am typing to my Dell rep, who is from Calcutta. But you are asking for advice, instead of the other way around (lol)

Just need help with one more thing will using many low wattage bulbs or using a few high wattage ones have the same effect on your plant?

Some say that a bigger footprint( lots of low watt bulbs). Really you want them as close together and the most watt. I got 2 65w and 2 55w for a total of 240 real watts. 14,000 lumens. I also run 4 35w 12v HIDs and those equal 12,000 lumens. I have just under 1 square meter with a total of 26,000 lumens.

My grow is only for 2-3 plants max and what was the final answer? Many low watts or a few high watts? And the total wattage around 200?

Personally i would go with 2 250 actual watt cfls. And make i nice hood. You need more wattage of cfl to produce light intensity needed for dense bud.
