powerhead vs airstone

Some one told me to use a sub pump over a power stone but i have no idea what im doing..

Over a air stone sorry i just woke up

Read up on the basics.

I cant find any thing

My reef tank has powerheads lol, never heard of one for buds.

Your friend is talking about flooming I assume. Using water to break the surface of the the res to add DO to the solution. I use water fall and fountain effect to add DO and have no air pumps.

what do you know and what are you trying to achieve? could have meant venturi?

Some one said i could be using a sub pump instead of air stones in another threat just wanted to know what he meant so i did some research and found power heads

that is flooming as waterdawg talked about. i would prefer venturi over straight flooming.

well it's an effect that you get by adding a small amount of air to the water stream. you can do it with any regular hydro submersible pump if you just insert a t connector that remains above the water to get air.the passing water stream creates a vacuum that sucks in the air. or you can buy venturi specific pumps
