Kiddo's Stealth Grow CFL Autoflower Odor Experiment 180W Auto #1 Seeds

Hey There Fellas! Happy Holidays!

First off, my goal is to find the perfect or near perfect solution for a very low if none odor/light/noise, cheap, and effective grow for personal use. I am a light smoker/vaper so even a one ounce yield will make me a happy man. This technique will definitely not work for people wanting pounds of bud every harvest or commercial growers. But if you wanna tag a long that'd be dope.

Now, I know I can build my own grow box, and I most likely will in the future when I have more time. But given my situation, and others that I have read. Buying a grow box will be much more convenient for me.

I recently ordered a stealth grow box (speaker style) online. (250$) It should come within the next week or two. (There should be pictures attached.) It is 24 in tall 9 in deep and 13 wide. It comes with 6X60W CFL (3X2700k / 3X5000k) It has pc fans. One intake and one outtake. The outtake has a carbon filter attached to it. The grow box can support up to 3 lights at a time so that will be 180 W for two auto-flowers.

My seeds of choice will be Auto Seeds Auto #1:
Type: Indica/Sativa/Ruderalis

Height: 25cm-75cm

Harvest: 60-70 days from seed

Stone: All round body buzz

THC: Medium

I purchased a 3 pack from Herbies. I am a returning happy customer with them after my beans got lost in mail but they resent for free. (I would highly recommend.) In the description, it says it is known for very very low odor.

My Growing Medium:

I will be using a 3:1 Ratio of Black Gold Natural Organic Potting Soil and Espoma Organic Perlite.

The potting soil comes with fertilizer with an analysis of 0.05 – 0.0 – 0.0. Can anyone advice me if this will be too strong for autoflower seedlings. I am choosing this kind because it is the only reasonable priced bag of soil for 8 quarts on amazon. The fox farm soil on amazon only comes by larger sizes from what I've seen.

Each pot will be 1 gallon each and I will have two pots in the grow cabinet.
This size pot is not ideal, but since they are small sized autoflowers. I would rather have 2. 1 gallon pots than 1. 2 gallon pot.

Also, my nutrients will be the Organic Biobizz Indoor Try Pack. I will go 1/4 strength and increase as time goes by. But i'm not too worried about the specifics right now.

For watering, I will use my tap water. I bought a ph testing kit just in case its off.

Now for Odor Control. I will have a carbon filter on the outtake fan, a couple Fridge-it Carbon absorbers (5 bucks a piece), Ona Block Fresh Linen, and if needed an Ionizer or a plug in odor eliminator.

Honestly, that kind of sums it up for the moment. The grow wont begin until a week or two into December, but Im bored as hell and wanted to get the "hard" work of this journal done with. I will update it, as soon as my beans and materials come. Starting this journal now will also give me more time to adjust the setting or grow box, if there is something terribly wrong before I waste my beans.
If you have any questions or advice, please feel free to ask or say.
Thanks a lot doods. See you soon.

Hey guys quick question. I just measured my tap waters ph, and its friggin 8! Is this gonna f#ck up my seedlings? I measured distilled water and its right at about 6.5. I may just start with distilled water and when they get older switch to tap to save some bucks.

Soil sounds like it will be fine for now. Not too hot (too hot meaning having too much nutrients), just a light touch of Nitrogen to encourage healthy vegetative growth. I've not used Black Gold, possibly someone who has can speak better about it.

Suggestion, raise the pots closer, about 4-5 inches, or so, from your 3 cfl's, and lower the pots as the girls grow. Keeping them closer to the light will help with overall development.

As for your tap water. 8 is quite alkaline (for cannabis at least), alkaline can mean high in mineral content, which can be beneficial cause you have minerals readily available in your water that all plants thrive from.

As for lowering the pH of your tap water, a simple organic method is to use Organic Apple Cider Vinegar. You will have to see how the ACV reacts with your tap water, I would suggest adding one cap (the cap from the ACV bottle itself) of the ACV to 1 gallon tap water, stir it up, and check the pH. Apply more ACV as needed, but use small increments and keep checking the pH.

One more note on tap water, depending on what the water treatment facility in your area uses, you can let your water sit out in open air in a bucket for a day (or more) and evaporate the chlorine if that is all they use. If they use chloramine to treat the water in your area, then a small in-home water filter might be a good investment if you can.

Looks real good though bro, nice and clean. Let us know if you are interested in more info on this stuff.

Thanks for the help dude. I just tried the apple cider vinegar, and tested it at 6.5! Thanks

Update. Just received the stealth grow box. Its tight yo.

It came with
6 (60 watt cfls) (3 veg and 3 bloom)
2 pots and 2 water catchers.
3 Carbon filter replacements.
A preset outlet timer.
And probably some other stuff im forgetting.

Sound.

The fan plugs are separate from the the light, which is really helpful for stealth grows.
The fans are pretty loud, with no background noise, you can hear them just outside the room your growing in. It could be my house carries sound really far.

Light,

Shut, and in the dark, you can definitely see the lights leak through, but in the daytime not so much, except out the back. But this is no problem for me because I have it hidden in a closed desk.

Two problems I have noticed so far, which are very easily fixable, are on my mind right now.

First, the pots are hella small. About 5 inches wide and less than 4 in tall. This, im assuming is way to small for even autoflowers. So I bought two 1 gallon smart pots on amazon. I threw some pics of these down below.

Second. The timer it came with is a brinks preset timer. This is a bitch because you can't set it to the hours I want. 20/4 veg and 18/6 in flowering. And i dont really want to have it open all day trying to figure out the hours its on. I swear i checked the box like 10 times. Maybe i was to high.

Thats about it dudes. My seeds havnt come yet but it should be anyday now. And ill update when germination starts. If you got any questions or advice about the box or grow let me know.

Threw a pic of some rock nugget im on.
Peace

Good news! First baby sprouted. Though I must admit I made an inevitable stoner mistake for the third time in a row and not labeling the seeds while germinating. So one plants going to be auto #1 and the other auto polar express

Fond memories.
My first box was a oak cabinet on its side about the same size and setup.
Power bar with 4 lights.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Alright fellas we off to the races! Second seed sprouted and both are enjoying life. Temps are around mid 80's sometimes it gets up to 90 when the fans off. Humidity around 20-35% super excited.
Just wondering... How safe is it to post pictures on here? Like after seeing Shit about popo and geotagging wonderin if it's really worth it. Anyone got advice?

It was ok. It quickly ramps up. Small cabs are never enough.
I will be working on a 2x4x6 t5 build over the next few weeks.
Yeah I agree with ya 420% but this was my only option and i hope to make the most of it. Best wishes to your new build though!

Week one update. Just gave them their first watering, and they seemed to love it. Temps are high at steady 90 when all fans running, I rarely allow it to go over 100. The first plant had a lil deformity with the second set of leaves but it looks like it took care of the problem by itself. Feel free to comment or ask questions.

I grew in a box very much the same as yours when I first started indoors. Was fun.
Temps seem a little high without co2. I kept mine in the basement to bring temps down. You could also switch light on times to be on during the night off during the day.

Thanks for the input dude. I was thinking about starting a homemade co2 tank with a 2 liter bottle, yeast sugar and water. and leave it in front of the intake fan. Anyone have experience with this?

New update. 4th set of leaves are now showing. The first pic shows my second plant, and it is turning neon green on the outer edges of the new leaves. Is this heat stress? Or potassium deficiency? Any help would be great thanks dudes
