I have had many friends struggle with addictions from alcohol to Xanax. Talk to a doctor before you detox, because some drugs are deadly to quit cold turkey. Turn to family and friends for support. Try staying active to keep your mind off of it. Wish you the best of luck, just remember when it's hard how much better of a person you are without the drug.

Former H addict

Theirs only 1 way, and thats to make your mind up and commit and do it

Lots of stuff will remotely help, but will not give you the kind off relife opiates will

I recomend a quick suboxone or methadone tamper (4 or 5 days max.)

2 good sites concerning addiction

I dont believe in the diease concept , but what ever you do believe you need to read and lean about addiction to help overcome longterm

Good Luck

i've done this; it is hard! i too was on a 100 mcg patch as well. it took three tries to get off of it (with a doctor's help). what has your doctor prescribed to help titrate off? you are titrating, right? i had to be switched to oxycontin and am now titrating off of that because the patch was too hard to control how much medicine i was getting at specific times. it's when i started smoking cannabis again to help with the withdrawal symptoms...

ETA: it is a bad drug. fentanyl, imo, should be for cancer patients, etc., not used for pain management. it is a terrible drug!

no need to be sorry dude it happens... just keep trying. Idk about poppy seed tea, seems like it would be too weak imo. there's a bunch of things you can do to make the process easier and like racerboy said you'd probably get better replies in the hallucinatory section

don't try to get off of this medicine without a doctor helping you titrate down in dosage. if this wasn't prescribed to you by a doctor and you are abusing it, this is a dangerous medicine. you'll need help to get off of it. let us know how the appointment with the dr. goes and how you're feeling please!:peace:
i've heard methadone and that sub...can't remember the name...stuff is even harder to get off of, even though it makes the detox easier you end up paying for it. hopefully your doctor can come up with a reasonable schedule of lowering the dose while also giving you medicine to help through the hardest parts of it.

Rob333,
No worries if you slip you will not be judged here.
A Dr. Is the best route to safely kick an addiction.
It is not 3 days of sickness, depending on how much you used it might be 6 months before you feel normal whatever normal is.
No matter what you need to have 100% commitment to kicking, go find a meeting and listen when you feel like sucking on a patch.
I found that the physical part is over in a 1-3 weeks but the sleep interruption and emotional adjustment take much longer.
Be Kind To yourself Brother.
Bless,
DZ

Be careful with the Methadone. That stuff is really nasty if you get dependant on it. It's half life is so long that it builds up in your system to huge levels and takes for ever to get off of, believe me. If you do use it don't take for very long, same goes for valium. If possible try switching to something like vicodin after you've tapered a while, the withdrawl from the vicodin is usually a lot milder.

Hey bud I feel 4 u I have been down that road b4 I was on oxy and used suboxone to try n get off of it and ended up addictided to the suboxone lol I stoped it cold turkey from 2mg I made it about two months and was still sick as hell even at 2mg dose. I have 3 herniated discs & degenerative disc diease and am now on a very low dose of methadone for the pain I dont abuse my meds and I really wish I didn't take them but I do need them cause of the pain. If you can get off of them it's the best thing u could ever do u just gotta have a very strong will best of luck and talk to the big man upstairs it really does help.

If your are in pain there is absolutely nothing wrong being addicted. Pain can cause all kinds of issues that are far worse than being addicted to the recommended and safe dose of your particular Rx. High blood pressure is one and that was the problem in my case when I was in severe pain.

Yeah blaze I just wish I didn't need the stuff. Sometimes I think what would I ever do if my doctor stopped my script cause I have been through those withdrawals b4 and I never wanna do it again. They threatened me cause I had a urinalysis come back with thc that they would stop my meds so now I gotta smoke 4 a month then quit 4 two cause I'm scared they'll take my meds. I have never failed a drug test since iv been going there just the one. Idk I could b doing a lot worse things I guess but they are in control I guess.

I did notice at the Pain Center i go to for cortisone injections they had a note on the waiting room bathroom door "DO NOT use THIS bathroom since we drug test our opiate patients here". Evidently you have to have a certain amount in your system so you are showing them you are not selling it???...I wonder if this is nationwide too?

Pain Management Doctors that allow cannabis use are getting harder and harder to find in CA. Most all of them treat their patients like drug addicts, it can be pretty degrading. Their has been a huge push lately to stop prescribing opiates. Doctorate are being pressured into limiting their scripts. I've finally decided that I've had enough. The hassles at the Doctors office and the meds side effects are not worth it to me anymore.
