I read today that the Marley clan is moving to create a worldwide brand of MJ using Bob's name.

How do you feel about this? Is this a crass commercialization of his name or a clever, tasteful idea.
don't the dead people sign a contract with there promoters to be able to continue useing there name after death? Idk..........not sure what % of dead people make more money dead than alive ....but its a lot and non of the public have complained......i my self find it moving when you can buy goods with your favorite dead celebrity on the packet :)... Kinda like a tribute to a ledgend.

i am at the moment waiting for a new phone case edoursed with the face of the one and only greatest ledgend known to man..........MAINLINER...ha

I think its a weird one. From my interpretation of videos ive seen of him he seriously advocated marijuana consumption, also disliked capitalism and its forces.
The most valuable assets bob marley left behind are in my opinion his pictures. And im very sure the family lawyers have spent a fuck lot of money buying his photos from journal;ists over time. His image is whats valuable.
In a way i think itd be glad a lot of people are consuming weed though i think itd make so that his organization would break even or use profits to help with the healing of the nation.
Overall i dont think weed was as big an aspect to bob marley as a whole as people already see him and might see even more. He clearly was all about the music.

It's about Rastafarianism. That's where the weed connection formed with the Marley's/ Jamaica. He followed Marcus Garvey and his teachings as well. Definitely right about the music though- he used music as a method of change. As many in the past have used literature to point out problems he used music.

I think it's pretty ridiculous that they would do this- but I'm not surprised. The Marley family has capitalized off of Bob during and after his death- producing album after album after he died to reap the benefits. Ziggy and Rita have always been in his shadow.... Making money off his dead ass.

Itd be nice to hear what they would say when confronted.

Is that what Bob would've wanted? I know he felt a spiritual connection to weed and it was sacred to him….Initially my thought was that profiting from something that is so personal and sacred instantly negates just that. I too would like to hear more about the family's reasoning on this. Maybe Bob wanted it legal all along and wanted all people to experience the wonders of cannabis and the Marley family is trying to make this happen and create jobs, etc blah blah…. I'm on the fence.

I dunno if this has much o do with Bob. It seems like the Marleys milking their only cow.

Thanks for the PM

A friend of mine told me a story about Ziggy just the other day. She said she was picked outta the crowd to come back stage at one of his concerts several years ago. When she met Ziggy she was so excited to met one of Bob's kids. She kept saying stuff like I can't believe I'm getting high with Bob Marley's kid. Ziggy got mad and kicked her out. Apparently he didn't want to be known as just Bob's son.
