Clones will not root, 2nd attempt 5-7 days in

What is so different about how you need to treat cuttings vs seeds?

I just cannot get cuttings to root. I'm using root powder, and the only thing that does happen is the formation of a lump around the bottom of the cutting.. it never grows roots.
They are in a humidity dome that is vented, sprayed a couple times or more per day, and in rapid rooters. The humidity dome stays wet 100% of the time.

I've got 6 cuttings, 3 i trimmed all the leaves off from except the main part, the other 3 I left the cuttings as they were.

Do they need to be really close to the light? I've had 100% success sprouting seeds and keeping them alive, but like 10 failed clones.

cloning is way trickier than seedlings, until you figure out your method. Some of which is having the patience to let it sit undisturbed. If at day 6 you pull your stem out of your medium to check for roots, you have more then likely messed up tiny roots that were starting to form...So one, patience. Also, Wait up to 2-3 weeks for some strains before you will see roots. Second, 100% humidity is crucial. This does not mean spraying the plants directly....Spray the humidity dome.

No, you do not want the clippings right up to the light (Basically no where near as close as your other plants. I have more success putting them in the bottom corner of my grow box.

What method are you using? My favorite of late is a home made bubble bucket...No cloning hormones, just some airstones, humidity dome, and again, patience.

I did like rooting hormone when not rooting with hydro

I use saran wrap, cheap and effective.
when i checked the roots, i cut the rapid rooter off them instead of pulling them.

don't cut anything off. There are little microroots growing in there, damaging those is not great. means they need to start over again. Nothing wrong with DIY at all. My humidity dome is a cake lid from the grovery, and the bucket is a paint bucket from home depot

the bottom of the stem was like black like it healed already... what is that? and what is the bulging at the base?

black seems rotten. too much water i suppose.

just water and 7 days is all you need.

Get a heat mat and put it on a timer on/off every other hour. Makes for fast rooting.Be patient with some clones. If the tip is rotten, its toast. I've reused cubes that didnt take by washing them well with h2o2 /water. You'll know when a clone has rotted because it wont be growing any on tops. If you get white mold in your box, dont fret, h2o2 and water in a spray bottle kills it on contact and wont hurt your clones. When its time to pot into soil (if you are doign soil) , make sure the roots are plenty and healthy enough or they will wilt. If this happens...put it under the dome in solo cup for a few days till she gets stronger.

I aeroclone so my take won't be useful but I wanted to add you might want to consider chlorine. I usually disinfect with that and run it in my cloner and in my res's. I've had problems with peroxide. I use it in hail mary cases of clone drowning

I never had any probs with peroxide. THanks for the heads tho. I just cant have bleach around me it makes me so sick.

Hey if it works for you no problem! I have 35% which can get a bit burny LOL Our local water company LA Water, uses Chlorine up here. So I just use their premix ha! I am so lazy.

i r.o. water,stereilize between cloning,and never have issues..
4 gal h2o,35ml of calmag,7days..

patients young Jedi. Sometimes they root quick and sometimes they root slow.



Even have roots shooting through the top



Just let it go 10-14 days sometimes and don't open dome the first 5 days that's what I do and I do clones lots of them.

did u do the dip scrape dip and then hormon dance

Wait 2 weeks next time. Add a heating mat (mentioned already, I use one). Ph your water (or use distilled), and keep the rapid rooters moist the whole time. Lights should be weak (I use a t5 36w) and close (mine is right on top of the dome). I keep the vents closed the first 4 days, and keep some extra water in the drip tray.

My cloning process is similar to yours: (powder, rapid rooters, ph'd water, heating pad, low lights) and rooted in 11 days. Cloned 1 week into flower. 4"-5" cuttings. Good luck! Peace.

i have 2 clones outdoors right now for summer {south america} and i cloned just thos 2 never had an issue and in soil with gel... simple angle cut the trimming dip in ph neutral water scrape the sides a bit redip for 10 seconds then into the gel then into soil,,,
oh but i do have humbolt roots in the spray mix i use to feed them, thy are 2 months old now in tomatto screens in 10gallon pots.. idk why ur havein so much trouble maybe a diffrent medium would suit u better

I have a 8 site Octo cloner and have had it for 3 rounds of clones now and have had 100% outcome.

Flouro light is about 2.5 feet away\
Heating pad under bucket that keeps the water at 78
3 to 4 drops of superthrive in 4 gal of water
and 2-3 weeks later you have some nice roots going.

Not all strains get roots in 7 days.....be patient as long as the stems are not getting soggy or soft then just let it go. Be patient

Take the dome off and stop spraying them. They will root in few days.
