OK I haven't used any MMJ in over 20 years finally got some and tried it and it did seem to numb my pain in a different way then pain meds but the high effect I guess you would call it seemed really strong.
I just went to bed after a few hours because everything seemed weird woke up 5 hours or so later with the pain back which is pretty good for keeping gone that long and felt more normal.

So my question is to any new users or if you remember those times how long does it take to just get more mellow with it and not have it seem so mind effecting.
I did a lot of smoke in my younger years the late 80's lol and don't remember it being like that I could smoke go to work do whatever didn't seem to do much but mellow me out now its like my brain is going what the hell is going on.
Not really the feeling I want just want to numb the pain and feel mellow maybe gain some urge to eat again.
I have leukemia and have lost a lot of weight from it.

Anyways whats everyones thoughts am I just a newb who will get used to it does it just take awhile?
I really like the pain relief but I want to be able to think which I couldn't do much of last night and I didn't use much half a cookie edible.

And thanks out again to the people who have helped me you know who you are :)

Well tried two small hits off my magic flight box and that seemed better not as strong so I will just start off real slow and see how it goes.
It does have some good effects less pain, calmer if I just do a little and maybe appetite ate my first real meal in about 6 months was much just a turkey burger but haven't ate that much in a long time.
We will see I am hoping it will do something good and work for me but I will take baby steps with it.

Yeah, smoke less. You will also get used to being stoned which will make it feel more normal. Sorry about your illness.

you most likely smoked regular street strains when you were younger, grown in unstable conditions
now a days people grow to the best abilities with specific strains and types, they cure properly and it may seem much stronger.
My mother also has stated the same.

you most likely were given an indica type which caused a very mellow relaxing state of mind.

you need to build your tolerance up youll get there take 1 hits for now, and you will gradually get your tolerance up

The first couple of times is the worst. I don't like going without for weeks/months cause yeah, then once you smoke again, it really can hit you. I felt like an idiot after smoking after 6 months being without, took like 2-4 hours before I felt like my old self again, maybe longer. But then the 2nd day wasn't as bad and by the end of the week, it was no big deal. Different strains matter also, you need to try different strains and see what ones YOU enjoy. That might not be or might be what the bud tender recommends---with me, its usually not ....like a good indica strain can wake me up--everybody can be different and your body can also change from what it likes. The time of day can make a difference too, I tend to get buzzed more easily early in the day vs late in the day so I try to smoke weaker strains and go from there.

I stay completely away from edibles, they are too hard to control the dose, IMO. With smoking it hits quicker and fades away quicker. Then again I don't have leukemia, you might not be able to smoke enough weed for it to help you. But I would try just smoking and see if thats enough.

This might sound crazy but some of my more milder pain goes away for days after longterm smoking use..I went without for 3 days last month and was OK the whole time. My body isn't getting any younger either, ha ha.

that's pretty much exactly how I felt lol.

I am waiting for my letter to get my card should be here this week or next been almost 2 months now so should be soon.
Once I get my card and I am done driving for awhile going to smoke a little each day for a week and see how I feel.
its really strange after 20+ years of no weed then trying it again makes me feel like I am doing something bad lol even though its legal well as legal as the state can make it.

I do think it can help the pain did subside when I used it just going to go slow when I got no where to go for a couple weeks so in between doctors visits and see what happens.

And since I will be all legal when the dispensary open I will be able to try different stuff and see what does what.
Still kind of feel strange about it all but once I get my card in hand and can just sit back for awhile maybe everything will mellow out and I wont get so anxious.

Afternoon Darling;

In the beginning EVERYTHING will get you to 'stoned' *grin*. It's a bit freaky at first and can last hours! Iitty bitty hits/tokes sweetie. 1 an hour I would think for you. Careful about the 'munchies' though. I too had sever nausea and went down to 103 lbs from it. I now am 130 + and am trying to lose some LOL funny huh  Something about my insulin, I have to drink a lot of OJ to help.

It took me a good year to have it work FOR me, instead of AGAINST me. I bred the seeds I have for me. I needed to function during the day and SLEEP during the night...and a lot of whats out there is too strong for me...I needed to drive to the doctors :???: not fall asleep at the wheel.

I suggest growing your own to see what works for you, but while waiting for your harvest have a 'medical friend' help with your 'medicine'.

Personally, I think us locals should get together and help with seeds and clones for the newbies...yes, free of cost! It's hard enough to decide your going to do this, become legal, but if like me, who didn't toke, etc, I didn't know where to begin and scoured the internet trying to figure it out.

LOTS of opinions, advise, and "this is the BEST way" out there and it can become confusing fast! Not to mention overwhelming. When you live in a Dry arid Desert with a short growing seasoning, it's not easy figuring it ALL out, if growing outdoors.

I like this site the best so far, for the sole reason that I can chat with other Nevada's...It does me no good to ask a person living in MN how to grow outside now does it LOL

I have helped with the 'seed' dept before and will continue to with other 'medicals' patients. I am hoping for a great growing year for 2015 :weed:...minus the thieves ;)

Yeah, smoke some nice indica to help you relax. Focus on yourself and forget the laws.

Your cute! Sounds so easy...but for many of us, we were straight laced honey, so, we do worry about the 'little things' like going to prison. We're doing the best we can with the 'limited' information NV has given us.

"Here you go. All legal now" "how do I grow it?" "Oh I can't tell you that OR any information about marijuana". "But I don't know what to do. Can you tell me of someone you can answer my Q's?' "Oh no, all I do is take your application. I'm not allowed to tell you ANYTHING!"...That's what you get when you apply! And every (about) 6-months the dang law about it changes, NV makes it very frustrating for those who need it...So...

I believe we should take it upon ourselves, for those with the wisdom to teach, and share to those who have more Q's than answers.

***Information is power and with that power I will know how to fish for myself. Without it I am ignorant***

That's exactly the main problem I had I am in my 40's and just didn't know anyone in those circles I tried this once when I was first diagnosed and had a house but gave up after just not being able to get anywhere and losing my home.
SSDI and the VA took over a year for any disability so I had no income for a year had to move in with my EX and sleep on the couch it really sucked.
I have no where to grow but with the dispensaries supposedly opening soon at least I will have somewhere to try meds.

It was just a dumb way they wrote the law when it first came out and going from someone who didn't even ever go to a bar to trying to figure out how to get MMJ was overwhelming when I am almost to sick to drive most days.

But that was then this is now I am making some contacts my card will be here hopefully any day and all my doctors seem ok with it and its the VA so I was worried and still am a bit I take other meds that I have to have and it always worries me that they might pull them.
They did it once before when I told them no more chemo and it took a month of frantic calling every VA type rep I could find to fix it and it was not a good time.

Try to stay strong, yeah driving far just for some meds isn't fun. Moving back in with your EX ? That just isn't right

U veterans should be treated better. I don't agree much with war but U guys served your country, the USA should provide for U since U are too ill to work. Who knows just how your cancer happen, yeah the war wasn't no good at all, really should not matter, U were willing to risk everything to serve your country and U might still be if U did not fall ill. That is no fault of U and since the war could have been the cause, the USA should help U more.

Thank you,

I wished the VA system worked better but it doesn't maybe one day but I wont be here just looking for a better quality of life for this last year or two.

Hello Lostkeys,
Thank you for your service to our country. Sorry about how the VA works for you. My Dad uses the VA in Arizona and he keeps trying to get me to go there to get some help. My sister says they treat her well. I have not had so much help from the VA. I tried back in 2010 and they told me that I was out too long ago. So I no longer try to get help from them. Doesn't make sense, so I'm not about to get help from people that get paid for not helping. Just a personal preference. I don't recommend this course of action to you, but I'm handling it myself.

There is quite a bit of poor information out here, but if you try enough, someone can give you the information that you need. I grow my own meds. I know my medicine very well. I think it helps, having the consistent strain and potency. Since you're getting meds that you don't know how they are grown or what potency you need, I would try titration. My buddies say I smoke micro-hits, but it allows me the mini-doses, so I can gauge when I've had enough.

The strains that I ingest for nausea are usually sativas, I grow green crack for that. For pain I grow indicas. My last grow was white widow. It helps the pain and makes me sleepy. I harvest my green crack a little early, when there aren't too many amber trichomes. It keeps me awake and helps with my nausea. I've had other strains that help more, but I don't grow them and they cost money. I just do what I can and if I have an opportunity, I buy the dispensary stuff, but that seems like a thing of the past here in California. They are shutting down most of our dispensaries.

I hope some of this information is useful to you. If you have any more questions, I'll do my bet to get you answers.

Stay strong,

Warble
