Hey fellow growers I have a 4'x2'x5' tent I was wondering what's a good LED panel for my tent 4 plants max. I'm currently running a 400w HPS with two plants was thinking about up grading to a 600w with air cooled hood but I was thinking LED might be a better way to go and help out on my electric bill any input would be appreciated!

topled grow lights are inexpensive and many growers have had good grows with them a marsII 700 might be a good choice http://www.topledgrowlight.com/mars-ii-led-grow-light-700w.html#.VElaNskvk7o

Yeah I was just gonna ask how far do I keep it from the canapoy cuz I only have 5ft of head room!
There don't seem to be any high-quality fixtures for smaller spaces. Maybe the Hans panel. Everything else seems to be 5w in reflectors. For small spaces a fixture with 3w mounted on white backboard seems the best choice, but that's all TopLED, Vipar stuff (or rebranded Chinese imports like Blackstar). But, you could investigate Hans. It's 3w in relatively wide-angle reflector. It might not need a lot of distance.

I was going to ask eraserhead (a51) why he hasn't brought a low-intensity light to market. But, now with the Cree "lightbulbs" I linked to, there's probably not a reason to do it. You can buy them for $6-$8. Invest in materials to hang/position them, and you have a fairly plug-and-play system using LEDs which will become more ubiquitous over time. You get far more coverage (angles) than one could from a single fixture.

it would be closer to $27.00 per year per diode running 24/7 or about $2.25 per month but the cost of the bud you lose if you don't have enough light would be lot higher plant need a dark period to complete many chemical processes (krebs cycle) including sugar and citric acid production (needed to liberate nutrients and minerals from soil) so why would you run a 24 hour cycle?
I must not be reading that chart correctly or my math is flawed, the only column which I see had voltages is the vf50 it shows only a 2 watt difference between running at 700ma & 1400ma. Am I reading this right? I wasn't planning on running 24 hours on but rather I was just using that as a reference trying to understand if the efficiency gain was worth the light loss. I see the difference between the 2 as (2w x 24hrs)/1000=0.48kW x 365 Days = 17.52 kWH per year x 0.15 per kWH = $2.63 per year difference between running at 700ma vs 1400ma. If my difference calculations are correct why wouldn't the additional lumens be worth an additional $2.63 per cob? The 3070 data sheet shows a maximum 2800mA, does it have a minimum?

that column is the voltage across the device at a temperature of 50C look at the column to the right of that column marked 50c diss W for your actual power in watts. as for the minimum there is non but I have found that below 50 ma all the diodes in the device may not light at the higher current the voltage across the device is about 6% higher but the current is double so the actual power use is about 2.12 times as much. you were just using the wrong column. move 1 column to your right and you will have the right data.

Thank you, now I can see the savings using the right column. I worry about not having enough light or too much for the veg cabinet and thought of going the dimable route, is there a good reference on how to set these lights up to dim? I can wire a house but know very little about dc stuff.

Hyroot is using a Amare Technologies Solar Spec100 and has posted some nice pics

I am not aware of any dimmable drivers for leds.you will be using a separate driver for each diode so you can simply switch diodes on as you need more light.you need less light for vegging and can get away with 15-20 watts actual power until your plants develop about 5 or 6 nodes. depending on the strain you are going you may what to supplement with a little blue light to reduce stretching a cheap way of doing this would be to use a small CFL (6500k) for the first couple of weeks.

I saw excellent vegging under a Amare Technologies SS 100, but was only using the veg side. Do not know veg only wattage, but probably 60-70ish

please refrain from spamming this panel like the last bml. Your becoming a real pita.

Um, perhaps you neglected to read the thread title

Now, go back and count the number of times A 51 is mentioned

and the BML has performed quite well, but a much better flowering light, as evidenced by my grow thread

veg. Anything can veg. That's the easy part.
it is true that anything bright enough can veg but the proper spectrum is required for good vegetative growth and without that flowering, yield and quality will suffer. the leaves produce during veg provide food and energy during flowering. better veg = better flowering

Really Pet? You act like A51 has never been used before.

Maybe you neglected to realize that Amare has yet to even have a finished documented VEG cycle yet, or even a website... That's why people say things to you.

A51, Apache, and Hans has been proven for years, many years, the Onyx and Cree bulbs for a little over a year now, people are going to mention them, because they work, and have been proven by multiple sources multiple times.

Less shilling, more growing. Get some results, then you can talk without people bothering you about it.

Over the last 2 years, how many new versions have you come out with?

I mean, you promised me an 'all white' to do a grow on IC about this time last year, but you never responded one way or the other to numerous emails to A 51 and private pms on RIU, so it's particularly interesting to me that you would choose to do so now

You spammed the fuck out my email, you ruined your chances, which worked out for the best, you're the last person I want shilling for A51. Just ask the BML folks their opinion of you.

You can send all the regular emails you want, but just dropping a link with no explanation, it's not cool.

People point out what you're doing wrong, Gene busted you out for lying about the BML results just recently, you can not count multiple grows as 1 single GPW result. If you reveg, and start over, it's a new grow, and a new GPW, you can't combine them!! If so, people are hitting 3gpw+ on A51s and Apaches all day long.

I come out with new versions as the tech improves, what's wrong with that?

Also, don't you remember lashing out at me after I sent you those 2 FREE UFOs, because the USPS tracking didn't update as fast as you wanted it to? That was the nail in the coffin. I GAVE YOU FREE SHIT, AND YOU LASHED OUT ON ME. Have some fucking respect....
