Thanks guys/gals. The waiting right now is tough.. I wanta chop NOW!!! I'm going to try to to wait until I see a few more amber trichs this time though. They are still bulking up with trichs and I am after some fine quality this round.

They are getting frostier every day...

Jad3.. the smell great right now!! ...a little different smells from each variety but they all blend together when I open the tent flap.

The tallest colas are on the Desert Diesel. These 2 have grown up to my circulating fan.

I can see some amber trics at the top, toward the right. Great looking buds though, really like the look of the BK.
Thanks a lot.. Yes, there were a few amber trichs and I have found if I check them after they have hung and dried for a few days more amber trichs will be visible. That was a beautiful BK cola and large colas like that are much quicker to trim than the small ones. I trimmed that one in just a few minutes and I will weigh the yield when it dries enough to bottle. I would guess it will be well over an ounce. I tried to weigh it wet and it quickly maxed out my scale at 300ml(10.5 oz). It feels like well over a lb wet with the big stems.

Hi John. Thanks for the compliment on the pics. The good trich pics are a combination of good hardware, software(photoshop and lightroom), a lot of studying and trial and error.

Photography is my new hobby. I went overboard on the hardware.. got a Nikon d7100 SRL camera and borrowed a 40mm macro lens from a friend. Then I had to get an LED light ring to go around the lens and a tripod. When I take a closeup like that I have to use a remote trigger and stand very still because of the magnification and with the adjustments I have to make the camera has the lens open for several seconds with absolutely no movement. Then I pick though the pics for the best one and use photoshop to sharpen and enhance the colors.

I sort of over enhanced this one. It is a closeup of the premature Desert Diesel cola I dried and bottled. It has only been bottled for a few days but now I can find a lot more amber trichs than I could before it was hung and dried. View attachment 3274655
Another great shot !! ever think of making money doing that?

I cut the large tops today. There are still a lot of nice sized nugs on the lower parts but I am going to let them mature longer and get some light. Trimming what you see below took me 1hr 45 min... not bad IMO when compared to how long it takes to trim a bunch of small nugs. My last grow was a a scrog with small cola and a LOT of small nugs and I spent over 4 hour to trim a lot less than I have here.

I liked the Bubba kush the the best for plant structure and yield. The Blue Rhino tops did have a blue cast in spots and it had good structure but the yield was lower. The Desert Diesel had more Sativa in it and had long wispy colas with very thin stems. It also had a bunch of secondary small colas which is why you see that pile of smaller nugs and colas in the picture.

I will update again when I finish cutting the rest in a few days.

I'm still waiting until the lower nugs look nice and ripe and the large colas I harvested are not quite dry enough to be weighed and bottled yet.... maybe in another day or two I can chop the rest and weigh and bottle what I have hanging.

The nugs are looking frosty. This is one example on the Bubba Kush.

This is what is still left in the 2x4 ft tent.

I intended to weigh and bottle the tops today and post the results. Well, my scale decided to give up right in the middle of weighing and nope, it wasn't the batteries. I did get the Desert Diesel weighed... the 2 bottles were 2.4 oz and the buds were a little drier than I like. I also got 2 bottles each of Bubba Kush and Blue Rhino so I am going to guessamate 6 oz for the 6 bottles.

I still have the bottom nugs left to cut but they will have to wait until Sat or Sunday. They should dry for an added 2 - 3 oz or so.

Just the tops -- 6 oz

I was really impressed with the Bubba Kush. The stems were strong and it produced a lot of big sticky buds. It would have done better for weight but I accidently broke of a large cola earlier. It was topped for 4 main colas but only ended up with 3..

Ok... I'll leave the trimmings in a brown paper bag at the corner of Lost & Stoned for ya. You can pick em up tomorrow.

I only grow Kush and 3 zips a plant is average for indoors. Them buds sure look crunchy just like all the Kush I grow so full of tri's it literally crunches when you cut it. Looks great and them tops did get fat the diesel looks impressive as well, have you tested any of your strains yet?
Also only kidding about the pickup lol but would be nice to make some hash from all the trim or are you going to throw it out? I hope not that sure would be a waste.

This is the first time I've purposely tried to grow anything mostly Kush and I'm surprised and happy with the way the plants preform and the quality. I am sampling the Desert Diesel(which is more Sativa) now but I also sampled the Bubba Kush. Personally, I can't tell a difference in the effects but the Bubba has stronger stems, more concentrated buds and is much much easier to trim. I am very impressed with it so far and I think it also produced more larger secondary lower buds. I will find out in a few days.

Oh, yea, I was only kidding about leaving the trim on the side of the road too.:p I was thinking of making a little ice water hash out of them.
:peace:

That gave me a good idea Arris. When I look at the lower buds that are left I still don't see too many amber trichs but the trichs keep getting heavier and heavier....maybe I should let them grow a bit more and see how frosty they could really be?

I do the same thing as you and chop the tops first and let the popcorn get fatter. It just seems like such a waste to chop the whole plant at once as all that lower bud has a week or so go just to catch up to the tops.

I think it is too......but maybe more on the sq ft level.

(I don't know what happened to my previous messages.)

Yes, same here. Waiting a while to cut the bottoms not only gives me more better quality nugs but I don't waist my time trying to trim a bunch of small airy stuff.

Well, I really think they could go for a few more days. They are looking frostier but I still don't see many amber and I really have problems telling the difference between clear and cloudy. I know part of what I see sometimes is just the way the light reflects.

Ideas? Suggestions?

I harvested and trimmed the rest of the larger buds. I also had a ton of popcorn I tossed into my trim pile... might make a little water hash with it later.

I will repost when the nugs have dried enough to bottle but these should add 3+ oz to the 6 oz I already harvested..... looks like 9 oz this time plus all of those popcorn nugs for hash making.

For these smaller nugs I trimmed them so they can be bottled without any extra trimming and I am drying in paper bags instead of trying to hang all of that little stuff.

This is the Bubba Kush. It had most nugs, the most large nugs and the best looking nugs. It had the strongest stems able to hold up the cola weight...
BubbaKush-Edit.jpg

This was the Blue Rhino. It was close to the Bubba Kush with large, nice looking nugs and strong stems.
BlueRhino-Edit.jpg

This was the Desert Diesel. I liked it when I sampled it. It was definitely more Sativa like with long airy wispy colas on very small weak stems. The tops looked good though but it was hell to trim and the extra small lower nugs were fluffy and light.
