From Beardie to Bud (New Enclosure) **Need Advice**

So I'm trying to plan my setup for my first grow in a couple of months. I built a new vivarium for my bearded dragon, and I plan to use his old one to grow 1-2 plants at a time in. . Here's a picture below of the growspace I plan to use
:
The enclosure's size specs are 3'x1'4"x2' (LxWxH)

I was thinking I can build a canopy of 8 adjustable CFL's (2 "Y" sockets on either side of the LED centerpiece) with a small red/blue LED centerpiece, like this one: http://www.amazon.com/TaoTronics®-Lights-Plants-Greenhouse-TT-GL20/dp/B00GNWK2XO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414042049&sr=8-1&keywords=led+growlights

Picture of LED bulb. (It fits in a regular bulb socket and has great reviews)

I will be removing the lights I have in there now, of course, and designing something that will attach to the top of the enclosure with minimum hanging. For ventilation I will cut the 2" holes that are currently there on the bottom to 3" and use 2 cpu fans for intake, and on the right top side of the enclosure use 2 cpu fans for outtake. For filtering I was gonna DIY pencil holders for carbon filtering. Add in a small space fan for airflow, mylar the inside, and I think that should be it. If anyone has anything to add, please opine. I also have a couple of initial questions.

My first question: with proper LSTing, and supercropping, is this enclosure big enough for 2 plants from seed to harvest?

My second question: is the light setup that I want to use feasible?

I can build a custom growbox, but I'd rather use what I already have available, especially being that this would be my first time growing. If it all works out well enough, I will keep using the same setup, as I would only be growing for myself, legally of course.

just buy a tent a six hundred a couple fans and a filter .......... do yourself a favor....
A tent is not practical for me at this juncture. I'm looking for advice on how to make what I already have work. It will also be more of a fun project for me.

t5s and a screen....... I don't see you having much success w a first grow in a small space tho....... what you need is a whole room a big light and a huge pot of organic soil....

youre gonna have to really jump into the deep end for that space to work.... not trying to bring you down just being real...

Ya, I do carpentry for a hobby. I guess I could at least germinate and veg while I build a new enclosure, but I kind of wanted to do a test grow with the enclosure I have already. I want to test myself I guess you could say. At the very least it would give me valuable experience with growing. I've done a LOT of hours of research already, and at this point I'm confident that I can at least bring a plant to harvest. The yield and potency might suffer until I get more grows under my belt, but its to be expected imo for a beginner grower.

I hadn't considered T5's, so I'll do a little research on them...thanks for the tips.

I'm moving to Cali in a month, and I'm not sure where I'll be staying, that's why I can't just go get a tent right now. When I do move, my beardie is going into his new enclosure, and the one he's in now will be vacant. Here's a few pictures of the new enclosure since I'm talking about it, lol.

Went from this:

12/12 from seed, indica strain, with a scrog screen. Make the mediums wide and short so that you get more space, Rubbermaid containers for that, should be good. I see at least and ounce from PC grows and you have more space. Good luck

Personal use only, so 1-3 plants...It usually takes a month for me to go through an ounce, so I figure if I can yield around 3 ounces or so, I should be good in between harvests.
If i were you I would just mount a bunch of CFLs in the horizontal position along the ceiling of your grow box. at least 4 bulbs for your space probably 4x 26watt 2700k warm white CFLS should do the trick. Ultimately you will want to be flowering clones rather than from seed plants so that you don't outgrow your room.

use shallow wide containers to maximize vertical space. maybe use like dish tubs or a shallow tote or something along those lines for a container.

while vegging keep the CFL within 2 inches on the top growing tip to keep the plant short and stacked.

If from seed i would flower after 21 days from sprouting. During the first 21 days I would use a single 26w CFL placed very close to the top of the plant 24 hours a day.

Carbon filters and a good fan are a must for this hobby. Either invest a little off the start or take some big risks. If it ain't smelling your not doing it right. Your pencil filter might work during veg but no way during flower. Phresh and Can filter are the brands I would trust. Panasonic Whisperline makes a somewhat quiet fan but you need to attach your own cord to it. You can go cheap but remember you will end up eventually buying one of these. Those cheap centrifugal fans sound like jetliner turbo engines. The whisperline is 1/2 the sound and nearly twice the power of my cheap centifugal.

Make sure your box doesn't leak light because that means it could also be leaking smell.

Thanks for the info. The rubbermaid containers sounds like a good idea. I hope I can get at least an ounce per plant.

I don't know anyone in Cali, I'm still a month away from my move there, so the only access I will have to anything is to use a seedbank for now. Hopefully in the future I can link up with some peeps or dispensaries that have clones.

Sounds like an awesome idea, another poster mentioned that as well, so I will definitely use something like a rubbermaid.

Will do

I will keep the cfls close, but I was thinking I should veg for longer than 21 days. Does the amount of time vegging not correlate to THC% and bulk of yield?

I understand, I was going to try and cheapo it out, but I will definitely need a good inline fan and filter regardless, so might as well bite the bullet.

Understood, there are 12 vent holes in the enclosure, so as another poster stated, I might have to build a growbox from scratch so that I can make only the holes I need with the room I need instead of patching already existing holes. So much shit to consider...lol but I really appreciate the advice.
