32 hours of darkness pre flower

Got it, that's exactly what I thought. Thanks for the reassurance Weed, I can finally go to sleep without thinking about this all night... Tomorrow like you said I manicure the live plants then one nice and long dark period, and then back to pulling under the famed green light!!!

I highly doubt that an initial dark period would speed up the transition to Flowering. This is because cannabis plants flower due to signs that Winter is coming. Generally, this means less than 12 hours of light in a day - not 1.5 days of darkness. My guess, is that adding dark to a 12on/12off schedule ( For Example: 8on/16off, which is as far as I would go) would speed up their transition (I don't think it will stress them much either). 16 off Gives more grow time and the 8 on tells the plant that the earth is, in fact, still spinning; not just in a cloud of darkness.

PS - keep your air movement HIGH when you're in a dark period. Lots of humidity. Lots of Resin. Lots of mold risk!

Seen folks throw ice water on the roots before a dark period. Personally won't try that either. But seen others do it. Seen folks talk about 10+ days dark period too, I don't believe any of it. Too many follks see what they want to see and claim stuff as fact in this game.

If your plants aren't doing it for you and you need to find all these little tricks to get that little bit extra find new genetics.

Well the ice-water on the roots thing, is to simulate colder ground conditions, maybe even snow. It's supposed to increase resin production (I'm pretty sure). And, so would a 10+ day dark period. Since plants grow in the dark, longer dark periods to lead to more growth but at the sacrifice of energy gathering time. ---- ANYWAYS, Both of those techniques are debated and I don't use either. And, neither will induce flowering earlier (if that's what we're still talking about). hahaha smoke up folks!

Did you actually do a side by side comparison? Didnt want to read the whole thing, sorry lol.
Go to the pictures then. :).
No sbs. It was my FG. I was following a cookbook that suggested 5 days dark. The use was born of a sbs. Next summer, I will do my own.

Cant wait! I doubt it does much but never tried.
I certainly discovered it did no harm. Plants came out of it looking great. None of the predicted wild stretching. Worse case, I lost some flower time. My mentor swears by it and he does the 5 day dark. I wimped out and did 69 hours.

Ya like I said not sure of the benefits. Your mentor is old like me huh lol. I've been growing for 40 years this year ( mostly outdoors) and have tried most of the "increase yields, flower quicker, stronger weed" stuff and have over the years found that not much is gained if anything from veering off the basics. Hydro which I now do pretty much exclusively is the same. Keep it simple is what I try to do, sometimes getting caught in the hype, usually with the same results as staying the course.
