Scary to think of President Palin.
I have faith (lack of?) in my fellow citizen that they will eventually elect someone even crazier than her. We really need to reign in executive power and not just when it's the "other" guy in office.
It's hard to believe anyone could be in more wars than Obama, but President McCain would have repaved the middle east by now. So we've got that going for us, which is nice.

Would it be fair to say that America is only one serious terrorist atrocity away from electing someone like her?

Absolutely. The mood in this country after 9/11 was bloodthirsty and flag waving. I remember work giving us all flags for our antennas after and telling us we had to show them. I let mine fall off on the way home and got called unpatriotic for it. Bush talked tough and was never more popular.
Yes, another attack and Eastwood would get elected if he promised to make our day.

I guess it depends on your definition of war. We've dropped bombs in 7 countries (that we know of) since He took office. If another country came here and dropped bombs on us, pretty sure we would consider it an act of war.

The natural reaction to murder is to seek swift retribution, revenge is shortsighted though and one has to wonder if the unintelligent power hungry mad dogs don't secretly wish for something bad to happen. It's only opinion though but if such people exist within a stable political system they are quite probably equally as dangerous as any outside enemy.
I have never followed US politics closely although I do like to watch the theatrics of the Presidential elections, I remember thinking that Palin more so than McCain could not be trusted, she is super devious and would have made Bush look like a choirboy, there's no doubt in my mind for that reason alone that America got it right back in '08
