So I'm modeling a system aftwr the current culture xl4.....

Got all their stuff, the joints with bulkheads, filter, intake and return manifold...

Their system doesn't submerge the pump, just keeps it out see the res, presumably for temp reasons...

Anyways weekdays a good pump that won't leak and why do you think they do this?

Edit: fuck I use swipe text on my phone, gotta put that in my sig, I'm not retarded.... should say in line pump in the title, unless they come with wifi now ha

^^^^^^^i agree, i`ve had my danner5 for going on 13yrs and it has worked in the res and out without any trouble. it has worked in any setup i`ve had over that time, its a work horse. plus it is rebuild able if you ever need to repair it.

Cool, I got the danner 250, that's the pump current culture uses for the system I'm modeling it after. I'll post some pics when she's done. Is gonna be bad ass. But don't be surprised when it looks identical to the cc system...

Set the system up, danner 250 has a light leak, looks like I'm gonna have to send it back for another since it sits outside the water.... for the time being i have it rigged up in the water but wtf

Yup, seems simple enough, 4 screws on the front, with an o ring inside... I now have 3 of these... all leak, I'm sure I could caulk or use the pvc cement inside (where the o ring goes) but then I can't replace the propeller which they sell cheep, and I assume becomes a problem after a while.

Lucky for me in using hose so i just have it in my rez but I'm sure current culture does it outside for a reason (heat?)

It's been a losing battle... I have a new unit on the way and I'm returning this one... The rep on the phone agreed that even though it's marketed as inline it's more for submerged use

try a little lite oil on the oring. theres no reason to use silicon.

i hate that your having trouble with it. the true defnation of what it is, utility pump. versatility is what it is for.....i can`t for the life of me understand why a factory rep would misled you. mine sitting on the floor now and it has been for a few weeks. before that it was in the res pumping to the table. like i mentioned to slimjm try a little oil on the oring, it should fix it. i mean lite coat applied with your finger.

I've always heard good things... I honestly hope that the replacement does the trick...because no new joint nor megalock worked... I think you're spot on..with the o -ring

I'd use wax.

At walgreens, they sell wax for braces (yanno, for your teef!). Use that shit on the o-ring. No more leaks, plus you can easily remove everything.

Stick with the non-flavored kind.

Yeah, I called danner today and they said they'd send me more o rings but never heard of the issue....

If the replacements don't work the wax/oil spins like they might help. ..

I'll update you on the o ring replacement

My new pump is coming in today. If I end up with the same result definitely opening these pumps up and waxing/ oiling these bitches... Seems easy 4 screws... I have heard good things about DC pumps... If I can't fix it, which I doubt, I'll pick up one of those...
