Pollenmaster 150

Hey, RIU! I harvest 22 sog plants every two weeks for an average of 11 oz. I've saved all my frosty trim and tiny popcorn bud for the last 2 years, and I currently have 4 big, Whole Foods paper bags full and I'm ran out of space to store this stinky goodness. I've tried bubble bags to collect the kief a few times, but for me the process is too messy and time consuming. I started looking at dry sift tumblers. This one from APE looked amazing -

I quickly found out that this business went out of business over a year ago, and I can't find one anywhere. I heard the guy had legal troubles, fucking LEO. I finally stumbled across this little tumbler -

https://pollenmaster.ca/product/pollenmasters/

It seemed a little pricey, but with all the trim I've got, I figured I'd make at least twice the cost of this machine in hash. No one I know can get hash in Chicago and a lot of custies are asking lately, so I should be able to charge a nice premium :) I just finished my first 5 minute tumble last night, and I put about a third of a gram of fresh, sticky kief into my bong. It was so golden, and bubbled away to nothing with each toke. The smoke was SO smooth, I took monster hits because there was no urge to cough as I do when hitting my dank bud. I got about a dozen hits off that tiny load, I forgot that kief burns longer than weed. I then started to FREAK OUT! I thought I may be having a panic attack, I popped a couple of aspirin and lied back in my recliner. I felt as if I were 13 again after toking with the older guys of my neighborhood, not knowing how to handle the intense high. That was unexpected, as I've smoked every day for years and never get a high like that. Took a good 30 minutes to feel safe enough to get out of the chair. I'm on the third run of this batch, good for edibles they say - First run, best bubble hash - second run - grade B hash, third run - good for skin treatments or baking. I'm finna do another first run with a fresh batch soon. Don't worry, I'll take it easy this time...

Well, I got almost 300 grams of kief off of my saved up trim using the Pollenmaster 150!!! I made two grades - A grade is blonde bubble hash, and B grade has a slightly green tint. The A grade is going for $50 per gram, and the B for $40. No one I know can get hash, so I've quite the in demand item ;) I'd say the ratio is about 60% A grade and 40% grade B. The machine works great, but for me it took far longer than what was advertised. They say 5 mins for the first run, where my first runs are almost an hour to get the same quality and quantity they show one YT. I don't care, I've got the time to make goodies. The machine is really well made, and I recommend highly. For $495, it was a real bargain and I think its safe to say it has paid for itself...

I also purchased a hash press, and it works great, too. This puck is 2 grams of A grade, it looks darker because it's pressed and heated, but it is blonde on the inside and bubbles nicely. This puck was for a custie, but I got into it and had to make them another :)Hash puck side.jpg

CAPITALIST DOG!
Actually, nice work. Way to turn some trash to cash.
And what was the investment outside of the storage time? ~$500?

Yep. $495 including shipping. Seems like a lot, but considering I stand to make $12k+, it really isn't. I had that machine going 24 a day all last week, and it didn't even get warm :) The trick was to only load the machine no more than 1/3 full, I got the best results that way...

Interesting...but that does make sense. You need the material to turn over with sufficient force to loosen/sift the trichs.
If it is too full, then gravity can't work its magic.

What's the volume on the unit, anyway? It says "150g" but that doesn't tell me how large the cylinder is.
I think I see a potential business opportunity here

The cylinder is about 11 inches in diameter and about 15 inches long, roughly the size of my cock. If I knew other growers, I could rent this puppy out as I'll only be using it for a couple of days every two weeks now that my stockpile is gone...

Edit - I'm wondering if I should toss out the spent trim or if it would be worth it to attempt to make butter from it. My initial thought is I've pulled just about as much kief as I could from that trim, but I don't want to waste it if I can get more out of it. Too bad I'm not into BHO extraction, I'd probably eke out enough THC to make it worth the effort. Thoughts?

So about 28 cm X 38 cm
~23L, if I'm not mistaken.
so at 1/3rd full, and 150g, that would mean the material has a density of 150/7.66
...~19.5 grams/1000 cm^3
That's fluffy...That's not a bad idea of "renting" it. Get your ass down to your local Toke bar/shop, and meet your neighbours!

Do you have a scope? Try smoking some...

That concern never crossed my mind, I'm glad you brought it up. The trim was all completely dry, and even the grade B stuff is 90%+ trichs, which aren't water soluble afaik. I simply put the kief from each batch into tupperware containers, should I take extra steps to dry it out? Should I refrigerate it? Help, I'm new at this...

Oh hell, brother... Check out Frenchy Cannoli's thread.
He has some tricks you may enjoy playing with (while making premium hash).

EDIT: his videos on the subject are peppered with points of knowledge.

Thanks Heckler, great video. This guy was unbelievably French, almost like a caricature. I was mesmerized by his voice, it's like audible chocolate :) That process is WAY more work than I put into anything (beside my music), I workout and make dinner in the time this dude finishes a 10 gram puck! My A grade kief seems of similar quality to what he was working with, but pressing and heating the pucks is so much easier and faster. I can make a puck in about 8-10 minutes. I may just try his method for some personal hash headstash, to share with friends and such. He seems to think it's a good idea to leave a tiny bit of moisture in the finished product, that it somehow enhances the consistency of the hash. Lots of good info here, I'll watch it again later...
