So I chopped all my buds and left all the branches and stalk in the ground for hopes of keeping the plant alive until next year. What are my chances? Any tips to up my chances?

Ive never done it with weed but I do it with my chilli plants to get a second season out of them...I cut the branches shorter and place plastic or as such on a frame around them with only a small hole for air. Done 9 last year for a survival rate of 5 this year ...might not work but ya never know if u dont try....I think.it helps to leave some growth in even if it was a few leaves and a nug or two....

I leave my ladies in after i cut them as a reminder and they never grow back. If you are using pots then u can put it under lights and add heat but a winter will kill it 4 sure.

I disagree. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a weed sprout from the ground with no water for years and once you start giving constant watrr, bam weeds start popping up everywhere.. This is one of the strongest heartiest weeds so a fully developed root system should have no problem surviving a winter that never gets lower than 30 degrees. What do I have to lose?

Winter will kill your plant. You will need to take a cutting and root it. if not the cold temps and lack of light will kill it outright. Good luck though. I'd like to see it done!
