planting my first seeds

12 hours after first starting to germanate my seeds all have cracked and half are already showing roots, so im gonna leave it a full 24 hours b4 planting them into 9cm baby pots, now i have 2 600w lights that ill be using to veg with, how far away should i keep the light from them and how much water should i give them, all replies are welcome thankyou

Anywhere from 12-24" away. Never (try not to) let the temps get past 85f by the tops of the plants or the room, I stay 75f-80f max.. You want a high porosity soil throughout most of the growth cycle. A 5 gal pot holds 1 gal of water for me. If indoors DONT use soil. Get some promix aka soiless mix. If you continue to grow you will be in for one hell of a journey. GL man.

Always germinate in tall pots.

Buy Mel Frank's "MJ Insiders Growers Guide".

Organic soil is fine indoors.

Water when the pot feels light to the lift.

After planting my germinated seed, I leave them under a 100W CFL for a week to gently expose them to light. I have found that my 400W light has to kept too high to avoid cooking them.

As soon as my seeds pop the soil's surface I give them full sun all day, the way nature intended. They love it.

They don't need "gentle". By the same token they don't need to have their chlorophyll bleached out by too much HID light which can put out more f.c. than the sun depending on placement.

They need to be grown for what they are, a weed aka a flowering tropical annual.

You want to get them in the plot asap that way they have their substrate and can grow upwards, towards the light. Otherwise, the sprout will stretch out like a bean sprout, you don't want that.
-A good rule of thumb for light distance is to put your hand under where the plants are, if its too hot for your hand then its too hot for the plants; conversely if its slightly warm on your hand the light is at sufficient distance.
