How to make lollipops and apply the right dosage?

Ok hello and thank you for stopping in with a harvest on it's way and the fact that I gave up cigarettes. I want to consume thc without smoking. I also don't have them often enough to make brownies as it will soil before I use them all. So I figured candy would be perfect I can have a small amount and candy stores for ever..

I used to have depression and anxiety and have learned to adjust my life to limit opportunities to arrive where i get anxious I have luckly beat depression so that is not an issue. But I do tend to still get quite anxious. Especially if I get to high! Now there is a catch twenty two because if I consume the right amount the sweet spot I am in bliss no anxiety what so ever and life is good.

Now I do not need a recipe exactly although one would be appreciated I am able to find them anywhere online. I came here for expert opinion on how much to put into the candy. Ill only have one shot at this as it will be my only harvest/ bud until next year. So I do not want to just do it myself and ruin it.

I don't want the lollipops to bring me so high I have an anxiety attack but I don't want to waste all the weed and feel nothing. So I guess i'm asking how much bud should I use in my candy? If I am aiming for a mild but noticeable buzz. I don't know how to dose the lolli's.

Thank you so much:smile:

This is the strain I am growing and will be in the candy;

In 2012 Dutch Passion began working with the CBD Crew to produce a range of feminized cannabis seeds which produce plants rich in the cannabinoid CBD. A variety with over 4% CBD is regarded as CBD rich.

Traditionally cannabis has THC levels of 12-21% and CBD levels of 0.1% to 0.3%. However some varieties have now been cultivated with much higher CBD levels.

CBD has a number of important properties, it can help with relaxation and nausea, reduce anxiety and improve sleep. CBD varieties may allow users to medicate themselves yet still think clearly and function well.

For recreational users, the new CBD varieties may be a less intense but equally pleasurable alternative to traditional varieties.

High Youngbuzz. The average dose for edibles 'they' say is .35 grams. The recipe I use is 150 grams trim (4 ounces trim = 1 oz buds) to 8 sticks (2 lbs) butter.

1 gram = 1000 mg
150 grams = 150,000 mg
150,000 x .05 (the thc percentage you gave) = 7,500
7,500 / 4 (cups butter) = 1875 mg per cup
divide 1875 by the number of items you make with the cup of butter

Giving you the butter breakdown, because you can make butterscotch pops with it :) Here is my recipe:

1 cups packed brown sugar
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter
1 teaspoon good vanilla extract

Put sugar, corn syrup, water and salt into saucepan. Stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Increase heat and cook until thermometer registers 250f (firm ball stage). Add butter, cook with occasional stirring until thermometer registers 300f. (brittle stage). Remove from stove. Carefully (steam will escape) add vanilla. Now you want to stir it very well with rubber spatula, until it becomes a nice smooth consistency. Work fast but careful ;) Pour into buttered shallow pan, making a layer 1/4 inch deep. While warm, crease into squares with a blunt knife. When cold, break into pieces.

I actually use hard candy sucker molds. This is a great site for info and molds:
https://www.candylandcrafts.com/hardcandy.htm#

You can also make a green/gold dragon tincture or a glycerin tincture to make regular hard candy. I have several patients who don't have good luck with those though. The butterscotch def works :) Hope that helped some.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer my question it means a lot.

If I can get some more details from you. To help me figure things out. Once I follow the recipe what would you suggest would be the right sized portion to cut out?

Like pretend I was one of your patients and I ordered a batch how would you dose me? I am not a heavy weed smoker but I do smoke on the weekends. I want to medicate for stress and anxiety. It would be nice to get the stress relief but not get super high.

Don't get me wrong I do want to feel my candy I want a head change but something that is manageable I don't want to be couchlocked for 2 hours at a time. I want the same feeling as two/three draws from a joint as that is how much I usually consume on one dosing.

I know that's probably difficult for you to just guess off the top of your head but I thought you might have the practical experience to give me an educated guess.

Oh, and the website says 5%thc and 5% cbd, but independent testing showed the THC @ 12% and cbd 11%. So it could possibly be anywhere in between 5 -12 THC not concerned about high levels of cbd the more the better.

No problem hun :) This butter recipe is pretty strong. It was tested at 15% thc, so that is the figure I use. It gives me a 150 mg cookie, with 24 to the batch. I tell most people to start with 1/4 to 1/2 a cookie, depending on their tolerance.

Speaking of tolerance...I am an all day smoker with super high tolerance and usually out smoke all the boys, but I have low tolerance with edibles. So don't let a high smoking tolerance fool you into thinking you can eat the whole cookie or (gasp) two of them your first time with edibles. I have literally been floored - on the floor hugging it, begging it to stop spinning - when I first started making edibles lol. The floor just laughed at me ;)

So to answer your question, if you are using the butter recipe as is (same amounts), I would tell you to start with about half of the sucker (mine are about 50 cent piece size). With a half cup of butter in the butterscotch recipe, I get about 24 suckers at roughly 75 mg each. That may be too strong for your first time. You could make smaller pops if you are one who cannot resist the urge to chomp on candy like me ;) I tell my patients to start small and work your way up til you find what works for you. Eat half the candy and give it at least an hour. If not feeling what you want, eat the other half.

You can def freeze it. If you are gonna have it for a while, it is best kept in the freezer. It will mold if left in fridge for more than a few weeks.

Thank you again for your input. That is exactly what I want to avoid is being floored as with my anxiety. If I over dose my self I get anxiety attacks. Its funny how to much of a good thing isn't good at all! Lol but with the right amount its mental bliss..

So I think I will half the butter you said you use a half cup of cannabutter I will use a 1/4 cup of canna and a 1/4 cup of regular butter. And see if its strong enough if it isn't I have plenty of butter to retry the recipe a little bit stronger.

haha! Awesome...that is a great idea - not to mention a material stretcher ;)

I have heard that some sativas can cause anxiety. So def don't overdo it if you are using sativa.

Here is another recipe for you. It is Ina Garten's Fleur de Sil caramels:

In a large sauce pan melt 1 1/2 cups sugar with 1/4 cup light corn syrup and 1/2 cup water. Stir to dissolve sugar, then bring to boil without stirring. Cook to a medium to dark golden color over medium heat.

While sugar is cooking, heat 1 cup heavy cream with 5Tablespoons canna butter in small saucepan. When sugar mixture is desired color, carefully add the cream and butter to the sugar mixture. It will boil up furiously so be careful of the steam. Stir a couple times, then cook to 248f. Remove from heat.

Add 2 teaspoons good vanilla and 1 teaspoon sea salt. Stir very well until a nice smooth texture. Pour into a buttered 9 x 9 pan, let cool then cut into squares.

Or pour into silicone molds. I use these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/271604307534?lpid=82

they are awesome! and takes away the measuring and cutting.

Great thread going here with very simple and precise directions.

How long can you store the finished edible refrigerated or frozen after making it?

Say for a cookie or a brownie I guess... clearly I'm not much of a baker.

I give my stuff a 2 week shelf life if kept in the fridge. In the freezer, it can go several months depending on what it is. Some things don't freeze so well.
