New 10'x10' Lighting Question

So I'm going to be creating a 10'x10'x grow room and I have a few questions. First off this will be my first grow so I want to stay away from Hydro and go good old fashioned soil so I don't fuck everything up. What would be the most efficient way to spread the lights / what lights should I use. I'm hoping to do a SoG setup (I'm not sure if I should do perpetual or not I would prefer to go with whatever would give me a better yield but I'm thinking it doesn't matter and it just makes a different to the timing of the yields?) so I'm going to have to seperate a little bit off in order to have a veg room for the clones. I would also love some guidance as to how much space I should save off for the veg room in order to make sure I'm giving off enough clones to support the flowering. (I was also thinking of maybe doing a tiered space for the cieling that would rotate out for the clones? I'm thinking along the lines of when the flowers are smaller on one side of the perpetual grow they won't be as high so maybe I could put a couple of mother plants in a 3'x'3' box suspended from the cieling? Feel free to give me a "Hey newbie I'd do it like this" sort of answer.

hey man

ok u need to decide are u going HIDs or LED ...........this will effect your budget/need for cooling greatly
1 hid does a greater area of coverage but the depth is limited .........cheaper to buy but more power and heat from them
2 led does a great depth and avg coverage................cost more to get but the power and temps are lower

in the end LED beats out HID in cost effectiveness .........if u have the funding LED lights are the best choice unless u are in a warehouse setting so the heat bleeds off more effective then HIDs are the best

the rest of your trouble can be solved with a few tents in the area allowing u to keep the 3 timings in the same room (veggie ...mothering....flowering)

if u are going to use the bigger room for the flowering u know the 12/12 so those house need to be open for u to work on all the plants once they flip off the other 2 tents will no longer be workable (u can not open the tent to work the light would leak out and the flowering plants would photo react) .....the only by pass for this is auto flowering plants but they are not ment for scroging unless u get a 90 plant

This is a 10x10, not a rinky dink tent, don't tier anything, or mezzanine bullshit, except for cuttings. At most split it up into two even rooms, at least.......well that's up to you.

Entrance to your veg, then flower.

I've never done a real sog, and I don't know anyone who does (legal reasons). So your on your own there.

HPS air cooled in flower, t-5s or Metal halide veg, cfl or t-5 for cuttings\

how "noob" are you, do you need to know what hps and 12/12 mean ?

I think if your looking for max yield and dont care about plant number doing them all in one shot as opposed to perpetual is the way to max yield, theyre all as close to the light as they can get and nothings shading anything else

also move the light, not the plants (much easier), even if you section off growth stages just put the light above each one as close as you can get

i like 600 watt hps's for flower (i think like three or four'd be good for 10x10 )and i don't know much about l,e.d.'s

veg room can be much smaller since your going sog, you'll only want a two week before you flower. florescent t-5's should be good for that room/tent/whatever

hows the window situation in that room, get a good inline fan that can move the cubic footage out of the room every min. or so

I guess I'm not that noob I understand that 12/12 is the light period for the flower cycle. I have done lots of research I just don't have anything under my belt. As for the airflow I'm going to run ducting into the chimney and have it run out the top. Smell is an issue as the woman is very picky about it hahaha....

I was also thinking HPS but I wasn't sure if I should get more lights or more watts... E.g. more 600w HPS or fewer 1000w.... I'm also considering LED though but I have my doubts on how effective they are (Oh well more reading lol)
