QUESTION ABOUT VENTING 1000 WATT HPS

Just had a question about venting. Im interested in purchasing a 1000 watt hps light with cool tube. Unfortunately I live in an apartment complex and have no where to vent the hot air. Don't think I could vent outside for fear of smell or someone seeing ducting coming out the window. My question is can if I run an a portable air conditioner in my room around 65 degrees or so can I exhaust into the same room? Will this heat be too much for my air conditioner? Would I be able to run 2000 watts in this room? What about 2000 watts of led lighting? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks RIU.

Ran into same problem last run ...I was venting into the same room I slept in had a 1000w hps and a 400 w running for good measure and my window unit kept up fine

how many btus is the AC, you may not need to have a vented hood, 1000 watt puts out about 5000 btus of heat, so if you get a 12k btu unit no need to air cool.
Well my apartment has central air but I plan to buy a portable ac just for the spare room so I don't have to freeze everyone out in the house at 65 degrees. So at least a 12,000 btu and I should be ok? In fact I haven't even bought the 1000 watt system yet. This will be purchased around tax return time. Thank god for rapid refund...

Wow that's awesome. Did you use a cool tube? My plan is to operate push 2000 watts. Hopefully I'll be ok.

Question for both of you. Do you think I'll be better off purchasing 1500 watts of led lighting instead? Had my eye on two Mars ii leds (750 watts each). Would this be a better option to deal with heat? Also would 2000 watts plus portable ac be too much for my outlet or would I have to bring in an electrician to install different outlets? Is this an expensive job? Do either of you know anyone who's had good results with the mars led lights? My solar storm is kick ass. Thanks guys for all the help.

Depend's on your fuse box....How many amp's?2000w has alot of draw on your fuses if the box can take it but it still trip's maybe just try to replace fuse??..If ya have little experience with electricity electrician may be way to go , But ya it will probably be pricey..LED will definitely make a difference in heat...But I'm not familiar with that question as it pertain's to MJ...I have only used them on my fish tanks tho..Both fresh and Salt water ...There are other member's who swear by em and could definitely point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the help Whodat. I'll probably have to call in an electrician to add a separate box. If its too expensive I may have to settle for just the 1000 watter and my Solar Storm 440 (370 w actual draw).

A 12,000BTU portable doesn't cool as well as a 12,000BTU window unit. It pulls warm air into the house, negating some of its effect. It also costs a lot more.

A legit electrician won't modify your wiring without written permission from the owner. How many circuits are in the room? Do they also feed other rooms? How many amps can you run off each circuit? 15 and 20 amp are common. You should only use 80% of the capacity of each circuit or you'll be tripping breakers all the time. I am limited to 2 x 15 amp circuits. My grow is designed to fit that limit.

1,200 watts of LED and a 5k air conditioner keeps up. that is for a 4x4 area. I have 15amp breaker per line, that room just happened to have two lines. overloading the landlords electric does not make them happy.

If you are going to run two thousand watt lights they need to be on two seperate circuits. dude is right aboout perimision to do work. u can always get around that if you have a friend who is a electrician. All this equipment you are thinking of buying is going to suck alot of electricity. I am a electrician by trade, don't expect to hooke that stuff up to existing outlets and be able to run it. Breakers will be tripping left and right. I have one thousand watt light, 5000btu ac, dehumidifier, and a 440 cfm fan in my one room. I have 3 dedicated circuits as of now to run this equipment safely. Oh yeah oscillating fans too it all adds up. I am going to go perpetual soon and will have to add more power to accomadate additional 600watt veg room. Good luck man

Yea I'm afraid you guys are right. No electrician will work on the electricity without managers permission. DAMN. Well I guess heres my solution. Feedback would be greatly appreciated. So I guess I'll have to buy 2 Mars led's 750 watt actual draw. To cut down on so much power drawn at once I'll veg with this light, then split the vegging plants into two tents. Then run each tent 12 hours on 12 hours off for flower. First tent under 750 watts from 6 am to 6 pm. Second tent from 6 pm to 6 am. I can probably keep the central air in my home around 72 and be good since led's run a little cooler than hps lights. I'll close front room vents if it gets too cold up front. Hope I explained that clearly. How does this sound everybody? Thanks in advance for all the future help.

Have you considered starting with one AT600. Yes it's expensive, but it should pay for itself the first run. Later get a second and start a second run 4 weeks after the first. 1 and a half pounds every month and a half. If you buy a portable AC, make sure to get the dual hose unit. This will allow you to cool the room without blowing the smell out the exhaust.

Are you talking about the apache led lights? If so I've considered it. I have the solar storm 440 and its a great light. Is the apache better than the ss440? Right now led seems to be my best and maybe only option.

Yes, the Apache Tech. Check out GreenGenes grow journal. He has a couple grow journals and comparisons in the LED section. As for a 1000w replacement, that is the only one that I have seen multiple results comparable to.

if you run your intake from in room and make your exhaust outside you will be ok.ventilation for lights should be a closed system and will not pull any odors from tent.as for the ducting coming out window, just build a box to cover window.put your 6" hole for vent and your good to go.make sure you keep window open and keep blinds closed or slightly open.(you are pretty much making a box around blinds).works really well, ive even made box out of cardbaord and worked great.ac will get pricey,i would rather have simple yet effective ideas before something that adds costs.if you can run intake through vent and not the same room though.after that hook up 2nd fan to filter and vent into room with only filter inside tent.i run temps of 75 that way with no seperate ac unit.
