H20 in your Delta-9

Hey folks,

Curious as to your methods of removing or avoiding h20/condensation out of your concentrate.

During the summer in AZ, it heats up so quick and the cold/hot clash and create allot of condensation. Easily enough it can be heated out but I would rather use little-no heat.

So may times in the summer I end up with a "heat-less" product that will dance on the nail as the h20 turn to steam. There is no sparkling and no harshness. However I know the sound alone is enough to scare you off.

Please enlighten me today. bongsmilie

i wonder how to prevent moisture as well man. here in the summer its very humid. I dry my stuff out first in a dehydrator, but butane is really cold and makes ice crystals, even when its purged and there is just everclear left im sure theres extra water in there too and i have no idea how to avoid it

You should be able to purge it off in the vac chamber.
Even at full vac the temps are nowhere close enough to boil it off.

I have been able to separate most of it from the oil before purging but whats already mixed in in what keeps it moist and makes it sizzle.

You could dissolve your extract in an alcohol and use a drying agent like MgSO4 or 4Å molecular seive to remove water from the solution.

I don't know about water but I know thc and the terpenes do

Does water not boil at room temp under full vac? Last I checked it does.
Full vac would burn up THC and Terps like qwizo said and at 1124 sea level I don't pull more than max -27.5. At that it would take about 115-120F to boil off the h20.

I guess I need more of a preventive measure. I don't think I want to mess with salt like blunter said and heat is defiantly not my friend.

If you find a preventative measure let me know. I live in a high humidity area, and In notice the difference while blasting in the summer vs. winter when it is cold and dry.

Will do, so far my best recovery has been to blast into warm everclear and winterize and filter twice in the freezer. Much quieter but I don't usually winterize, so its an added 5 days and hassle.

Perhaps you would be able to make a small box for evaporating the solvent where humidity could be easily be controlled to avoid the condensation problems your having.
Although the problem with that would be that it could present an explosion hazard so I imagine a spark free fan would need to be used.
It would be a cheap and easy preventative measure.

good idea^

I filter my alcohol into a jar in the deep freezer
when it is done filtering i close the jar lid and take it out of the freezer until it has cooled to room temp, or the condensation stops building up
than I pour it into a pyrex to evap

I don't think so, or at least haven't experienced it
I normally just see the condensation build up on the outside of the jar
so i figured keeping the lid on would help keep some moisture out

but aren't ice crystals inside the jar then melting into the solution and watering it down?
Could u describe what your experiencing a little more descriptively?
The only time I have trouble with water getting in my dish is when I blow on the liquid butane in an effort to make it evaporate quicker.

I evaporate in a large rubermaid tote that I attached a small 4" inline fan for exhaust and on the other side just a vent covered in cheese cloth to keep out any dust. I can attach the 4" fan to an exhaust pipe to vent outside if I want. Only problem is R.H. of the ambient air in the room the box is in.

An effective way to fix that would be to build an air filter around the back of your fan and fill it with granules of dessicant/molecular sieve to capture the humidity as it enters the box.

There is no fan for intake. The intake is passive, but I see where your going with that. Good idea. I just do my best and keep it in a room with the dehumidifier going, or ac to help with humidity.
