Took home 6-11-14 from a friend who just let them sit in 16oz plastic cups til they were like 6" and all stretched out. Homeboy mixed up the cup names and for now I know death star is short and quite wide- However I planted anyway in the ground out of 26- 7 confirmed pre flowering females out of 26 total

Specs & Lighting/Equipment: 8x4 box, aeration stones, 3x 5g buckets for teas/nutes/water, multiple size pots (hydro store kind usually in the back) lighting; Huge hot amazing (freeeeeeee!!) Sun^.^

Soils:
Scott's top soil (usually red bag; topsoil, peat moss, sphagnum),

Scott's hummus & manure (usually the yellow bag)

Nutes: New millennium lightning start, Azamax 4oz, miracle grow packets 24-8-16, soil content nutes and organic materials, Marine cousine; teas, presoil additive.

This is how they looked just put in the ground. Bad. Horrid looking, sad, and just cruel. Loll.

Consistant growth. Well maintained so far nothing special.

Marine cousine added to soil and mixed well along with other soils mentioned above. 1 cup per two bags of top soil and 1 half bag of manure.

Easy going.

All as follows but have been noticing what looks like slug, thrip, and possible aphid problems going on along with some lady bugs(+) spiddle bugs, black with white spot spiders and some Brown spiders, leadhoppers, catepiller (1) spider mites loll Yeshh a whole Lotta shit all over a few days but it's alright.

Got some advice at a grow shop to get some sand, of course doing some homework on the subject I acted quickly and laid down a nice layer of sand around the top layer. Added cinnamon, they say the kind you get at the store isn't real cinnamon but the "imitator" cinnamon works just as fine. Keep everything away even ants and most flies/flying pest if not all for the time it takes to rain again. Strong powerful smell and actually pleasant to experience while outside and breezy cool day. Couple teas made by using 2-cups of marine cousine followed by another batch that was only a booster had roots organics, New millennium lightning start, sugaree, azamax, rain water.

Threw down 13+ more seeds last update and most have popped and a few older ones already took off.

Had a west coast diesel seed, tried a different terming method using an egg carton 1/4 corner and tried growing it out that way, not very effective, stray away from using that thing loll.

(As I said I'm trying everything and anything out-first time outside as well)

Got Hella bigger haha, seriously I came back after it rain all night and they grew like 2-3 inches over night

. I gotta find a way to collect rain water then aerated it.IMAG0337.jpg IMAG0339.jpg IMAG0340.jpg IMAG0347.jpg IMAG0351.jpg

Update: 7-23-14 7-25-14

I forgot to mention and if you haven't noticed they're string tying each plant down (besides the 3- in the middle of course), I used a string that was strong and would not tear, or grind some flesh off the plant and sort of soft elastical bands that allowed the plant to pull somewhat like preparing to make a muscle and just barely flexing your bicep. It'll betcha ripped. Haha.

Big growth. Lots of supper cropping I actually tried a bushing method whee you do the main taller colas then the surrounding ones. Awesome results.

Tea batch given and they gobbled that up. I usually let my teas brew for a about 2-3 days. I use waste solids with other plants in tiger lily flower garden.

Couple of cinnamon applications, Smells so fucking good, Apple cider vinager traps for the little pest. Seems to be some strange shit. Will snap pics next update. Possibly a few days from now. Maybe today loll. Just to check em been 3 days.

I'm interested in Praying Mantis, Lady bug, and natural and organic insecticide such as some kind of predators to house flies(other than PMs)

Other natural and or organic anti fungals, disease, and mold killers/preventers (aside cinnamons natural anti fungi qualities)

44 days since they entered the ground and we'll I gotta say they are looking nice :)

Laid down some more seeds and what's you see in the cups are what's popd

Topped the biggest seedling and trying a cross style lst- IMAG0396.jpg IMAG0397.jpg IMAG0391.jpg IMAG0393.jpg IMAG0394.jpg IMAG0395.jpg

NIce plants dude. From what I have seen, Death Star puts out huge yields. Fat buds.

Thanks broddi, it's interesting from what I read I get more smaller ones but beautiful looking, Idk I've never personally grew DS but it'll be cool for it to be a great harvest for a first our door grow.

I'm not to worried about space, some of them will be chopped because I do not want males (suspected males are the 3 in the middle)

Yeah I still have like 4 or 5 unsexed plants in the ground too. Hopefully at least 2 or 3 will be females. I got a late star this year too. You got the ones in the in the planter box in native soil?

KushDessert

Nvm. I see. Lol
It's a mixture of the native soil/clays/sands mixed with the soils I stated way above with some marine cousine dropped in to sustain nutes for at least a couple months :D

Dark star??- that sounds like a heavy killer haha, I've smoked DS before and it was pretty great, but many places cannot grow or produce decent bus around Detroit.

Looks good but doesn't smoke good, smells good but doesn't burn well, buncha stuff. Hell I'll even start doing reviews to let people know what's worth a trip or not.

Get a 55 gallon barrel. They sell them for cheap on craigslist. And get an air pump rated for like a 80-100 gallon aquarium and attach a couple airstones. That will keep the water good.

Also you could start making compost teas because you now have a compost brewer haha.

Yeah I've had one for over a while now but unless I can used cat crap I can't really compost anything aside from fruits and veggies and just letting then sit in a couple jugs.

Assuming there's a way to use cat shit? Loll.

Cat shit has toxoplasmosis. Don't even touch that shit bro. You can get disease from it. Which can kill unborn babies and make pregnant women really sick. As well as everyone else.

Cats shit in my compost sometimes. I just throw it over the back fence with a shovel lol. Nobody here pregnant smokin my buds, so fuck it lol.

You can compost most animal poop. Not domestic pets though. No good.

My compost pile consists of mostly dead leaves and veggie/fruit scraps. Oh yeah, lots of used coffee grounds as well. Check your local starbucks. Some save the used coffee grounds for gardeners. My pile just sits in a corner of my yard breaking down(actually I have 2 piles finished and 1 I just started). I have really got the pile to heat up fast now. Just takes the right carbon to nitrogen ratio and turn it once every two weeks.

Put some in a bucket, tote, or barrel and add water mixed w/ molasses @1 tbsp per gallon. Put in the airstones from the air pump and let it aerate for 24-48 hours. And then water the plants with it. Good microbes for the soil. I use earth worm castings for my teas though and I just mix the compost into my soil. I add it to my outdoor plot every year to loosen up the clay and promote worms. It doesn't look disgusting either lol. Check this out. These piles have been going for about 5 months or so.
This was what it looked like when I first started in february

This was Last month

Here is some from 2012 that I used this year. Well aged.

I also throw all my old soil into the piles unless there is pests in them.

From what I've gathered, basically what to do is throw say any scraps be it fruit or old trimmings and sich', dig a deep enough hole and then scoop in the stuff, then cover with dirt and let sit/shift every now and then?

Correct me on any of that if needed.

I'll be trying to during the next last freeze or can I begin it now and let it sit through winter, I wouldnt see much point since all the microbes would either be destroyed or really preserved. Let me in on this compost idea, saves me some cash buying nutes and sich' loll

(Sich' = south park pun)

Check out the updates man, good news!!

Didn't get to stay very long and examine every nic and detail but skimmed over and inspected bud sites/shoots for the most part, checked ACV traps and found some pest thatve been there for a while and some newbies that fortunately did a kamakize bomb dive into them.

Also some pics of set up and the works.

Red stalks you see are sprayed painted bases to notify me they are 100% females from the rest.

In total 9 (7+2 New) females out of 26 total plants which is cool, just about at my limit and will try to get rid of the rest. I'll keep the strongest phenoms and sell the rest.

Males included.

IMAG0417.jpg
Hella canopy in just a few days loll. Strong preflowering going on as you will see.IMAG0418.jpg
If I can see through them they can breathe and aren't to cluttered. Although some more training could be down, will do after males are 100% gone.IMAG0419.jpg
Red spray painted bases. No damage done to plant. ^.^ sprayed to remind me these are females.

Above a branch broke but seemed to recover with barely anything hanging on, I didn't even know this happened Lmao. But it seems to be alright I'll leave it for tester buds.
IMAG0420.jpg
Closer look through the middle- as I said more training could be done but I shall observe to come to a consensus.

IMAG0422.jpg
Side shot haha, wonderful !
IMAG0423.jpg
The ladies are about half my height already and I'm a 5"9 :D
IMAG0425.jpg
The ladies are not camera shy! ^.^

IMAG0426.jpg
Getting larger and wider and beefier.

IMAG0428.jpg IMAG0429.jpg
The traps: I do not know the name of most of these pest

Appearances of some:

Some look like ants with winds and stingers, rainbow colored flies(fruit flies?) Thrips and fungas gnats, leaf hoppers, crickets, house flies(probably did to manure under sand) lighting bugs, spiddle bugs, spider mites (haha they tried), ants, even a catepiller and a moth I stomped on today ^.^ no bud worms for me Bruh.
If anyone knows and can provide picture evidence of each pest and their damage respectively, I cannot find much on spiddle bugs and lighting bugs (fireflies).

I've eridicated most problems & pest via azamax; spire mites blasted away, fungas gnats with sand and traps, catepillers via azamax dmg less and less until no more noticeable.
