First Grow Paranoia Syndrome??

Hi all,

so this is my first grow and i am a complete noob to all things growing. bit of info i'm growing in hydroponic bubble pots using the genesis formula (Micro Base, Grow and Bloom) and I'm almost at the start of the 6th week of flowering,

So I thought that at the moment they were looking pretty damn awesome but my brother in law (has quite a few grows under his belt that turn out rather nice) came round this afternoon and has told me to keep a close eye on them over the next few days as the 'pistols' (hope thats right) are turning brown and withering too early and this COULD be an early sign of bud rot. He has advised me that if it is bud rot at this point there's nothing i could do to stop it only try and delay it taking over.

So I've had a good inspection just after the lights went out this evening and there are a few bud areas that don't look to great but on the whole (i think) they look pretty amazing.

If you guys need any other info apologies for missing it but pictures are attached! I must say though in some of the pictures i think the light on the camera has made them actually look a lot worse (browner) than they actually are.

Praying you guys say they look great stop worrying and hold course :D (might have to zoom in a little to see the brown hairs)

Maybe I'm missing something but I really don't see anything to worry about in your pics. You are starting week 6 so you are within a few weeks of the chop. Looks fine to me but thats just my opinion

thanks for the reply, i was hoping that there all good. There's a lot of bud on them and i was just worried when he said it's a bit early for the amount of brown pistols on there! done a bit of research now and going to get myself a loupe so i can try and identify best time to harvest!

Get a 100X scope. I had a 60X and it just wasn't quite enough magnification so I picked up the 100X and its perfect.

Thanks for the advice, just ordered myself a 100x with alight on it! Thanks for putting my mind at ease on the brown pistols anyways!

The hairs turning brown is natural. Some strains finish faster than others, maybe yours is one of those strains. Your brother in law might be used to longer flowering periods.

Thanks ks for the feedback! Any tips on keeping humidity down? I've put a small dehumidifier in the tent but tbh it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference!

It's 65/70% during the day if I keep the tent closed then goes down to about 45/50 if I open the front right up

Ha nah not sure what's worse the fuzz or bud rot... Both would devastate me all the tlc I've given them!! Thanks mate, really happy with how my first one has gone, have already planned what I want to upgrade and improve for the next one! Btw I have 2 eight mile high mandala strains that I've grown from seeds and maaaaaan every morning I wake up to that smell it's gorgeous I can't wait to taste it!!

These Mandala seeds are my first from their seed bank.. and after reading the info on their website, I'm liking them more and more. They have all kinds of useful info on there. But, I guess the final decision will depend on the germ rates, how easy the are to grow, and the final product.

I will post some pics next week to show how there progressing but I've done a lot of reading about them to and they seem like a really good hardy strain. Very heat resistant and mold resistant! I've also got a green house cheese that was a freebie seed but it really doesn't look or smell as nice as the mandala but perhaps it just needs a bit more time!

Seems like they put all of their strains through crazy stress tests.. everything from not watering to over and under feeding. How much did the Mandala strains yield per plant if I may ask? The Fruitylicious claims are up to a kilo per plant in the ground.. That'd be F#cking great.
I'd like to try out Hashberry sometime soon.

Oh.. and one more question. Did you follow their germ guide or did you pop them with the paper towel method?

Well this one's my first run and it's looking like it will be a good yield but don't want to over guess and then be down when it's lower ha, but my brother in law done 2 of them very similar set up to mine in bubble pots and he pulled 16 oz from one and 14 from the other dry weights!

That's awesome.. I'm growing mine under the sun and I'm hoping to get at least a lb per plant with them hopefully more. Especially with all the work that I've put in over the past few months prepping my sites.. Digging holes, clearing brush, trimming trees to maximize my sunlight potential, and hauling in soil. All under the cover of darkness while trying to as quiet as possible. Nerve wracking, but its a labor of love. We'll see though.
I usually go with the paper towel method but after reading the germ guide on their website (after seeing all the warnings in red bold faced print) I decided to germ them directly in the soil. They were definitely successful in freaking me out. They claim higher germ rates in soil. We'll see how that goes. I only tried to germ half of them to see how it works out and if I have trouble that way I'll go with germing them in paper towels like usual.
Anyway, for your first grow you're doing great. Keep up the good work.
