I use 150 grams to 2 lbs butter. Decarb first and use lecithin and you will have a kick ass butter.

To decarb...grind up weed and lay it in a 13 x 9 glass baking dish. Cover tightly with heavy duty foil and put in cold oven. Set temp to 220f and timer for 20 to 30 (30 for fresher stuff). When timer goes off, shut off oven and open door. Decarbed :)

don't open til it has cooled off.

This is what you will be looking for. You can get at your bigger grocery stores with a health food section, or any vitamin store should carry also.
You will add it after the decarb, when you add your butter. A properly made butter doesn't need a lot of extra weed to be potent ;) Let me know when you are ready and I will walk you through the process

I usually do 1oz trim to 1lb butter / oil which yields about 100mg -150mg edibles cut into 8 pieces from 1/4 cup butter. If you do smaller cookies and get 16 from each then you'll have about 50-75mg very rough estimate btw.

I wouldn't do 7oz in 1lb butter. The fat content might get fully saturated with THC before all the available THC is absorbed into the butter.

Coconut oil also has higher fat content than butter and basically removes the need for emulsifiers like lecithin as it is absorbed quickly into the body. I'd smoke the kief you have while making the edibles. 7oz should be plenty strong enough especially if your doing anything less than the 1oz to 1lb butter / oil ratio with good trim.

Oh to add if you mix strains of various types like indica and sativa they hit you like a brick when they kick in. I just made my first batch of strictly sativa trim and it's an interesting high but for sure feels like less mg in the edible than there actually is due to how uppity the high is.

My way is like....3 ounces of bud per pound of butter...decarb for 45 min @ 220...2 pounds of butter in crock pot with 6 zips...cock on low 25 hours...put in freezer for an hour for butter to set...put butter back into crock pot add water...heat up till butter melted...
pour water and melted butter into rubbermaid container seal and shake....then back into the crockpot and back into the freezer for an hour..repeat wash 3 times...
Then I cut the butter 1:1 with normal butter....

An fumble I just ordered some soy lecithin...

Do you recommend using the soy lecithin for use with coconut oil? I don't usually add it but figured this might be a good time to ask. Another reason I usually use coconut oil is that you can also make salves out of it or use it topically for sore joints. Will adding the soy lecithin to coconut oil ruin the topical aspect of coconut oil?

nooooooo!
who is spreading this lecithin thing?
No
No
No

coconut oil has some of the lowest flux rates, use something high in low weight unsaturated fatty acids, oleic is a good one. unrefined sunflower oil is best. you could then add 5-10% ethanol or propylene glycol as permeation enhancers

Could you repeat that in layman's terms? :joint::lol:

Do you mean that coconut oil is inferior to those other oils?
And can you give more info on the part about adding ethanol/PG?

those were my layman's terms ;)

yes coconut is inferior topically, it's best (the best) orally
basically etoh/pg are being used to make the solution more polar and slightly more fluid. this oil mix is simply acting as a carrier. thc itself is extremely lipophillic with a very high log p, a compounds distribution coefficient is used in conjunction with other aspects of the pharmacokinetics to determine how the body reacts to a drug.

thc has a logp of about 7
In practice optimum colonic absorption is 1.32, intestinal is 1.35, oral 1.8, Cns 2, percutaneous at 2.6 and sublingual 5.5

the purpose of lowering the polarity is to drastically enhance absorption this is why you can't just rub hash on you.. smaller carbon chains are more polar as well as being absorbed through the skin easier. an unsaturated fatty acid is more polar, ch bond vs cc bond

coconut is high in medium chain triglycerides great orally...
unrefined sunflower oil transdermal

I place the whole buds in the oven for 15 20 mins at 160 degrees calacius. Grind up add to coconut oil for 8 hours in mini steamer on low heat. Its a mini slow cooker really but able to get a bit hotter.
I use 2 ounces to a pound, i dip into this all day and all night.

I add the lecithin with the first cook of the butter. I cook once for an hour then freeze for at least 2 then cook for 2 more hours, longer if I need a heavier effect for some patients. But you can make your butter the same as always, just add the granules at the start of your cook. You don't need much, a couple teaspoons will do.
