my first hydro harvest pics

I'm sorry I didt do a grow journal on my first hydro grow.... the reason why is I've been growing in soil for so long with great success, and with all the problems I've heard that could develop with hydro, I didn't want evidence of a failure....

But the system I went with was a 4 Bucket xl current culture system... I used their line of nutes.... I also have an 1/10 hp water chiller... lightening was 1000 watt hps New hortilux bulb.... blue labs guardin meter for ph,EC and temp...

I vegged for 3 weeks before doing the flip, and the strain I used was Ava G.... she is a strain that has a 9 week flower and can get 3 ozs in 5 gallon pot in soil....she is a strain that my group made and clones were taken from a mother plant that was only 5 months old before I put her to flower since I made another mother...

All and all the girls did good... pics below of girls in 8th week of flower and then the end result after trimming 3 days ago...

Very nice plants, this is my first post. I have been growing in coco for years and I really want to go to Current Cultures Under Current system but I'm trying to find out if its worth the money and time getting one of these systems up and dialed in. I noticed you said you got 3 oz out of a 5 gallon pot, is that 3 oz per plant? How much did you get per plant from the under current system? was the under current system was worth the investment? Thanks for posting your information, it helps to see a comparison of what past system vs under current system.

Yes that strain would get 3oz per plant in a 5 gal with my soil mix and amendments...
This was the first time it was grown in hydro by anyone in our group and I will say I was pleasantly surprised...end dry weight not known yet since the bus are still hanging up and drying and need a final manicure.... but I do know the main colas were triple the size they normally are... see the pic with the pack of smokes.... and I had 23 of them... super dense when you squeezed them...
My group of people have dwc buckets and a water table... I took the plunge for current culture...
But let me be honest with you...if you have stand alone ac in your room to keep temps down and humidity low I would go with dwc buckets since you can make 6 of those for 100 usd versus 1200 for the current culture set up with a much needed chiller... no chiller equals root rott..

I will say I was really surprised by the taste and how it burned... I've had plenty of hydro before but it was always harsh...and it did not burn all down to white ash...usually hydro around would burn to a black charcoal... I thought that was typical... but using current culture nutes maybe made the difference,I don't know.... but it still didn't have the earthy taste I like.... but the Ava G had a nice lemon taste....
Ok Boy this was just my first hydro grow... I've been doing dirt for 15 + years...

Never mind, at least you are doing it properly now.
Ouch... hydro is just for commercial.... dirt is still for the head and close friends... I would never give up my dirt that I've been recycling for 5 years now....I got 3 compost tumblers full worth, and a 60 gallon tote of good fresh and fully cooked compost dirt... a bunch of life in my dirt..... when I was repotting to 5 gallon pots last night I came across a bunch of worms in my soil.... that's good shit there....

Nice job, The most I have gotten out of my dwc setup p/plant is about 2 ounces. That being said I was using a 3 gal Res. And I don't have a green thumb although I try not to let my natural incompetence to hinder my chance at success.
"If you fail try, try, again" ...Thanks kindergarten!
Anyways, I open the thread and you posted saying you did not create a complete journal in fear of failure...man if you lost your pride you would have had an impressive journal for all of RIU to review. We all fail it happens if you think you never fail your a tool. And if people bash at your failures instead of lending a hand then they are trolls and not wanted here. I'm glad that it was all a success. I just wanted to comment on the fear of failure because no one else seemed to notice. If we were all like that RIU would suck we all learn through others mistakes.
Good Job Bro! Congratz and

ONE LOVE,
