What's with all the hate on autos..Let's compare.

My only issue with autos are you don't really get bang for buck. I have grown a few in my space and if you don't get the veg time right or you order one of the low Ryder types you get fuck all yield, shit if that's your only grow BUT I use them as supplementary while I am in between grows or curing. I always pop a few at the same time as my phenos so by the time I switch to 12/12 they are almost done. I usually have them scattered around my garden in 3 gal pots.

They are fun to watch grow because they grow so fast.

As for potency I have smoked some strong autos and I have smoked some that has been nothing but ditch weed. But everyone I have a bud too thought it was a top notch smoke.

They do seem to polarize the grow community. I just don't like the dismissive arrogance from a few growers. They are harmless and really only offer you more smoke.

well put.. what great little space fillers or time fillers they can be.
the people that dismiss them are only trying to cling on to some old tosh made up by some older breeders who are set in there ways. auto flowering cannabis occurs naturally in the mountains and has been organically stabilised.. thats so cool ! how can you not like that...?

I too can't stand the haters so what if you can't clone and top or whatever. LST works fine, and while I go through 1 pheno crop 2 month veg two month flower can have almost two auto harvest in same time..

Good to do both or on aolo. Haters gonna hate and say shit like LESS thc which is a straight out lie seen plenty of auto iron labs test at 20% and above.

My auto (Northern Storm) has cured for 5-6 weeks. I left it alone for awhile, smoking some other stuff. Smoked it again last night with 3 friends. It was extremely potent. I gave some to a friend a few days ago. He came by tonight to get more. He said it's among the strongest he's had.

This same cross in a photo sensitive might be more potent. But, at some point enough is enough. This auto is definitely enough -- and then some. I almost passed out last night.

Im not mad at all, my use of profanity maybe made it seem that way.

I also meant no offense to the dude I singled out, there are a lot of people who do that. It just doesn't make sense is all.

The op asked a question I gave my answer.

Auto's are fucking garbage and a waste of time ;)
garbage and a waste? keep those salty ass opinions to yourself there, bud ;)
and if you cant clone it why not Seed one branch? Real. Growers. Make. Options.
work on them smarts before you go a runnin that mouth laddy

I love how this thread keeps entertaining, I'm still making people but hurt months later. :)

A seed does not make a genetically identical offspring, you must know this.

I was prolly in a bad mood when I made that post ;) No need to take offense. I'm an asshole ;)

I stand by the substance, but the delivery left a little to be desired.

I'll NEVER buy auto seeds but I will grow autos.

I like the fact that I can flower an auto while i'm still vegging my big girls without worrying about it getting to much light.

I grew a FRUIT auto that was really good quality 100%organic

All the auto hate makes me sick. For those of you who havent smoked let alone grown one its best you keep your comments to yourself.
With that said I personally have seen autos produce over 10 oz of some of the highest quality buds to speak off in just 75 days. Thats called KNOWING WHAT YUR TALKING ABOUT. And that my friends is where the rest of the benifits come in hand
Cheaper to grow reguardless of how long your light cycle is you use less electricity and thats a FACT, also. Idc if your pumping 1000w hps for 20 hours a day, the fact of the matter is its 3 months vs 6 months of use. Not to menchine if you go led its even cheaper ( even with the inital start up cost of led, over time the outdated hps/mh combo is more expensive and caan be flat out dangerous. )
Less nutrients used = less money spent ; & I know some of you are going to argue " well less nutes is less bud" and you couldnt be any more wrong. Do your research you might be suprised.
as far as potency your clearly dilusional to believe there less potent. I can 100% garuntee if I gaveyou a 1g bong rip of a photo follwed by a 1 g bong rip of an auto you couldnt tell a difference in quality, tast, or high. In the beggining of autos, yeah you might be able to tell but now a days? You dont stand a chance.
With all that said theres still going to be people that bitch and complain kick moan and scream, dragging their feet the whole time because they are afraid of change. I got news for you, autos and led's are the FUTURE so get ued to it, and if you cant see that yet your choosing to be left behind which is fine, but please. Dont detur others based on yur stubborness.
Feel free to call me out I will then turn around and proove you wrong with very well documented grows that will shut you haters down. So fire away
oh, I believe you, but most people don't take the time to research how to grow autos, and there is almost nothing about growing them that is like growing photos. My question is which strain is best for potency and yield that is available in regular, non-feminized autoflower seeds? I'm growing indoors.

I'm on my 4th grow of Northern Storm from marijuana-seeds.nl. They're feminized (5 for $35 US). This is an amazingly potent strain. After curing it's covered in a frost/white. I have friends with high-tolerance who, after a couple hits, declare "I'm done."

It's also a hardy strain. Bushy, lots of bud sites. I got well over 6 ounces each from my first 2 grows. My third grow had went awry with very acidic soil (for reasons I don't understand). I foliar fed while correcting the soil ph. I thought it was an exercise in futility. But, in the last 2 weeks of flower she's bounced back and is packing on bud weight (with almost no fan leaves left). I'm looking at about 4 ounces from what I expected to be a learning experience.

I know you want regular seeds. But, if you can tolerate feminized you won't be disappointed.

Didn't read any of the previous posts, just the original and thought I would share my thoughts.

I started growing about 1 and half years ago, I used 2 tents and am currently on my 9th grow. I have grown both autos and photosensitive plants. My opinion is that photosensitive plants are better to grow than autoflower, but not due to potency but pure cost. The only reason I would grow an auto flower now is if it is a free seed (actually got 3 autos going since they were the promo seeds from attitude when I bought my photo seeds lol) or if I was having light leak problems (where i would fix the leak and not convert to pure auto growing).

The potency thing I think came from when autos first hit the market, it was scientific FACT that they were less potent since half of the pheno was ruderalis which has very low THC content. But just like photosensitive plants breeders could then take the subsequent generations of autoflowers and breed back in the yield and potency, would they every be as potent as the most potent photo plant... probably not but can easily get to the upper echelon of standard deviation of THC content in mmj plants regardless of auto or photo. You can now get autos that also yield a crap ton, my AKR got me 2 ounces (under CFLs) on my 2nd grow I was happy with both yield and potency.

IMO the autos are actually HARDER to grow then regular because if you mess up the seedling phase the plant yield is impacted, while in a photo you can let it veg a little longer to recover so you just lost some time. I was so pissed my 3rd grow plan was to start a Think different auto along side jorge diamonds photo and let the jorge veg for long ass time while the think different flowered. I was using coco for the first time and burned both in the seedling phase, jorge was saved and got me 103 grams while the auto was F'd barely got anything cause it started to flower too early by itself.

Autos cost more to grow, again this is FACT. You have lights on longer in flowering, this increases energy cost as you need to light longer but also need to COOL longer so need to cycle fan more. You can argue increased water cost.

Really no reason to go autos if you can control your light leakage, seriously not hard to get a timer (which you would need with autos anyway as don't want them 24 ours after seedling).

Plain and simple autos are a waste of time and money. 18/6-24 to achieve maximum yield on an auto costs more money all while most likely being less potent. You can grow 12/12 from seed and get a pretty decent yield in maybe 2-3 weeks longer and not have your plants crossed with something that's basically garbage. This saves money while providing better results. This is why people say to disregard. Because people who are growing autos solely are not really using their heads. This is additional wear and tear on equipment and everything else on top of having shit genetics mixed in.

I've grown and smoked a few autos when I started, because I listened to bad advice from people spreading this auto bullshit. If you can't grow a normal cannabis plant you can't grow and autoflowering plant, shit's not that fuckin hard and they aren't that fucking different as far as ease of grow goes. A noob can kill an auto the same way they can kill a regular photoperiod plant.
Haven't read the entire thread yet but felt the need to respond to this!! Not disputing the fact that auto's are an inferior product and I dont really know as I have done one strain lol. Some people seem to forget that you can grow pot outside! No waste of power, no wear and tear on equipment, and not reliant on light to finish. I do think Auto's have a place in the growers list of strains. I plan on doing a run this summer outside to hopefully replenish the stocks, and have them finish off early before the heli's start to fly and the thieves start walking around. I think writing off auto's is short sighted and am sure there are some pretty good strains available now but again this is base on second hand accounts.

I am speaking only to folks growing auto's indoors. I completely agree that they have their place outdoor.

Look there's plenty of folks I respect that grow auto's, it's not like it's devil weed, it's just not efficient on a small scale. If you are a small closet grower like myself dedicating all your equipment to auto's is a waste of money and time when you could do better with photo's for cheaper. If you got 3 rooms indoors and have veg lights on always anyways then by all means grow auto's indoors, there's plenty of folks that do that. I laid out the math later in this thread I believe, knowing my math skills it's probably wrong, but then again no one has corrected me on it yet and people love to call folks out around here :)

I agree growing an auto really doesn't seem to make sense indoors. A photo strain is probably a better choice IMO. Even a two week veg will give you a far better amount, again only from what I have read! I veg most strains for 20 days indoors and typically fill the room. I have done a few 12/12 from seed and honestly was very disappointed compared to the extra 20 days. Also haven't run the numbers but a photo versus an auto re: light hours, i think would be less if choosing a short period photo. My last run of Critical was done (tad early due to shortage lol) in 63 days from flip and a 20 day veg so pretty much the same as an auto and got 7 mason jars filled from 6 plants.
