greatbranch's heinz 57 lighting / yield increase/mainlining trial (strawberry cough)

I will have more photos coming on the next watering day. Until I get Neecy out of there (Next Monday), it just looks like plants have exploded in my tent. I have an Uncle Ben's topped plant in the same tent that is looking very promising. I might be done with the mainlining for 8, but we will see. I have another strawberry cough as well as a white lemon that I recently topped Uncle Ben style, so we shall see the difference. I really feel like 4 mains is the way to go looking at my oldest bunch. There always seem to be a couple of the mains that dominate the others when main-lining for 8, and those couple or few have more side branching than the others. The Uncle Ben's method seems to provide a much neater package, and is certainly faster. For small/indoor implementation I think it may be preferable.

Aye up GB, Looking Good! Well I've NOT been sat on My Laurels? well maybe sometimes..
The KC45s are entering their 4th wk on Tues and the Big Ladies in Flower are on 7th wk come Fri(and this time round the D.C.C seems like will Yield the most?) I've still not finished the Decorating and Flat-Pack Furniture..bout halfway(kinda having to work round Daughter being back in the room)
Gotta have a Big rethink on My Grow Spaces...

Hope all's Good Your way??

Really nice work there, gb! I've been away for a while working with NORML & another political group in my town. Now I'm back to work on starting my next grow. Just took a peek at your last posts. Neecy looks just like how I envisioned mainlining. She's got some nice, big colas it looks like. Very nice! Does Shakira look like that too? She was hiding behind another plant in your last post of her.

I will post pictures of the others when I have them out soon. Neecy really wasn't mainlined, but she WAS after I figured out that more tops wasn't necessarily better. I got just shy of 5 oz from her. I think it might be unrealistic to expect much more in 3 gallons, but I am by no means a pro. In mainlining for 8, I have noticed that 3 or 4 tops tend to dominate over others unless you keep everything strapped down. In fighting for a happy medium between horizontal and vertical space, I may stick with 4 tops. All of the side branching seems to equal out, so that the plant is about the same size overall in both situations. The weight will be the final factor, I guess. I am sure someone here has tried both before.

I have some construction going on myself. Going to finally vent my filtered air out of my space instead of recirculating it. Also, got another 440 CFM fan and a Green Gator filter. I had thought my other filter was really not doing anything, but moving Neecy to another room showed me that the filter was still working fine - just maybe a little weak for my needs. Going to order another Green Gator to replace the other non GG, and have both fans mounted on bushings up in the attic to cut down on the noise(though it's really not bad) and put in mounted speed controllers down here. On a recent humid day, my neighbor 2 houses down told me he could smell things. Luckily, he is cool. Time to err on the side of caution, and beef up the funk patrol! I really hope the Green Gators perform as well as I expect. Hanging and changing will certainly be easier now. That magnetic collar is slick!

So you harvested Neecy already? 5 ounces is great! I'd love to get a harvest like that from one plant. (Maybe I'll be able to with a bigger room & more lights now.) I need to learn to trim my plants like you show in that last photo of Neecy. I missed a lot when I was away, so I'll look back through this thread when I have time. I've been spending a lot of time in my town's new NORML chapter, but I won't jack your thread to talk about that.

I would do the same thing with my fan that you're planning, but to get up in my attic, you need to climb a step ladder and that's not gonna happen considering my disability. It's nice that you have a neighbor who can tell you when the weed odor is getting outside. We all need neighbors like that!

I guess you must have gotten through that dry period that you were predicting, if you harvested Neecy. That should keep you set for a while. How about a smoke report? I'm curious what kind of high you get from it.

Hey, GB. Are you working on your construction project? Haven't seen a post for a while. Maybe you're enjoying the fruits of your Neecy harvest? How is that Amnesia Haze stuff? That plant was a monster.

Yep, Dave. I have fixed that whole dry spell thing. I've been busy. I chose to NOT have the fans in the attic for a couple of reasons. 1 - Heat...motor generates heat in an already 150-160 degree attic and was worried about burning up my fans. 2 - The effectiveness of the fan is reduced the further down the duct it is from the filter. (this turned out to be a non-issue with the Green Gator...the airflow is just that superior, but I didn't KNOW that until I finished - I am able to dial the fan back so far that I can't hear it anyway). 3 - my big ass and gravity . I will be replacing my other filter in a couple of months with another Green Gator. They are expensive, but it was cheap for my peace of mind. Odor problem is fixed, but that could also be because I jarred it. The amnesia haze is NICE. It's not a couch-locker, but plenty strong. One or two done the right way, and you will be wide awake and dumb. If you are venturing out high, make a list! It works relatively well on my leg pain - "You mean I HAVE LEGS???!!!!" bongsmilie Made some hash that tastes just like Orange Slice. And I made some Green Dragon for the first time. I LIKE IT!

Glad to hear that the airflow worked out for you. Also your amnesia haze pic is awesome. I would love to get that into a photo lab and take some hi resolution pics, sorry im a photo nut and love seeing cool plants

No need to apologize, I understand. Nothing like good bud porn! I have been slacking on the picture and documentation side as of late. I appreciate the positive feedback! She was finicky, but has been worth it.
As is normal when you upgrade your engine (the hobby room), you do a righteous burnout. I am busy regaining a little lost control.:eyesmoke: I appreciate your fine product, sir! It kept me from landing 'in a ditch'. I will be grabbing another very shortly. I don't guess everyone has the opportunity to run a couple of different filters side by side with the same fan models, but it really is remarkable. I would also like to point out to the community that I didn't accept any discount other than what is offered through the forums for my positive statements. When I say that they are worth the money, I am talking full price! My comment about them being expensive is only on overall outlay of cash. It was not a fair comparison. My new Green Gator already will save me some electricity because I am able to run my fan at 25% and still maintain better airflow and filtration than my cheapo. It will last approximately twice as long (did I mention the pre-filter replacements?), and when it is time to change it,....these things make changing a breeze. That magnetic collar is the $hi+! I have physical issues (other than my looks), and I could change this by myself in less than a minute. I needed another person to install my drum filter. Alright, Gator - there's your advertisement :bigjoint: I will tell you where you can send the check via PM...lol.

So, I went to take photos while I had everyone separated, and my camera battery is dead. I apologize for the poor quality photos from my phone, but will give you some idea as to why the photos are sporadic. At least it is some kind of an update. Shakira is on the left, and Willomena is on the right (most of them anyway - crossing branches in the middle). They both got quite tall and I have to keep them tied down and intertwined, so to separate them is quite a chore. (Edit: this is week 6 of flower for both - COME ON, BIG BUCKS(BUDS), NO WHAMMIES))

lol awesome, just send me that PM!

If you can get a good shot of your filter in your grow, and if you are ok with it, I will post them up on our blog and give you a shoutout! I am thrilled to hear that things are working out so well for you. The ladies seem to be doing great too, keep those pretty pictures coming.
