Stoopid Vape Question

I'm a newb to vaping and really like it, but I'm not sure I'm doing it right.

I pack a bunch of herb in the bowl and puff on the long tube, and it tastes awesome!! all that... great buzz...

It gets harsh, or I'm hitting it too hard, or something?

I seem to be going through way more herb, but I think I might be dumping it too soon.

Though it tastes kind of dirty, it still is emitting vapor. Should I be hitting it until nothing at all is coming out of it?

what temps are you running it at? it sounds like you've got it too hot, or are hitting it too long imo..

i have an arizer extreme q, but i'm not a fan of vaping tbh.. idk, the high seems much milder compared to my trusty roor.. i might have used my v tower about, idk, 5 or so times, when i first got it, but it's since been under my bed collecting dust.

I keep the temp at 234.

I'm trying to figure out if I'm dumping the thing out too soon. It looks brown, but it seems to still vape if i mix it up and poke at it again.. just tastes shitty at that time.

if its a light brown when u dump it your vaping correctly but 234 sounds low i hae a vape myself an keep the temp around 320-325F
i get like 10 hits out my vape before its crisp light brown hope i helped

Temps at 234 are definitely to low, 320 is about right for an extreme q with good dry herbs, are you elbow packing or using the cyclone bowl?

That temp sounds way too low, I was just watching this review on the pax vaporizer and they said the pax only comes with 3 temp settings. They are low-370 medium-390 and high-410, so I think you are probably using way too low of a temp.

With my friends desktop box vape the first few hits taste really great, and then it gets almost a burned popcorn flavor, but it still produces potent vapor for a little while after the tast goes a bit "burnt"

Ouch, the burnt popcorn smell/flavor is just that burnt. You really don't want to smell or taste that as your moving from vaporizing to combustion which brings forth all the nasties.

Has anyone tried Vape Stepping, starting low and working your way to a higher temp to release different cannabinoids.. interested to hear the results..

I usually run my herbs through a vapir rise at about 320 and then 370 to fill two balloons, the herbs are usually light brown with a little green. I usually keep this mix to use in the volcano at about 7.5 which gives me another balloon , the final ABV is used for baking.

The body buzz is felt with the hight temp vape from the volcano, the first two bags from the rise are yummy and melt your mind.

Thank you all for your helpful replies!

Ooops, my bad... I mean its set at 234c(453f). I use the cyclone bowl that's packed probably 2/3 full. I pack it in the bowl tightly with either my pinky finger of the butt end of the glass poker. I've been experimenting with letting it go longer, as after closer examination with a 60x scope, I was still seeing viable trichomes. So now, after 45 min - 1 hr, it appears what's left is like "un-hash" and merely carbon material that I don't want anyway.

ru4r341, you mentioned combustion. Could you explain? My reason for doing this is because of not wanting to "smoke" anymore, so...

but, I've noticed my consumption amounts have increased since using the vaporizer. IE: packing the cyclone bowl tightly...

Hi,
234 C is at the very high end.One premium model has:
  • Digital heat control with 4 settings: 190 °C - 225 °C Many start at lower temp and work their way higher. 234 C is pushing the high end and some models can go higher than what is set. If herb starts tasting like burnt popcorn and color is dark dark brown then temp is probably too high. you may want to try lower settings

MinnBobber, Thanks, that's very good info! Mine has digital heat control...the highest setting was 230, but it has a arrow up/down button that you can crank it up higher. The range is 50c to 230c.

I guess I was looking for visible vapor right away and, apparently it is cooking my herb up quicker.

I'm going to give lower temps a try and will report back my results!

The more you vape the same bowl, the less flavor and effect it will pack (since you vaped it out). It's all about surface area, so make sure you grind your bud like a pro. Try mixing up your bowl half-way through vaping it, that will expose new area of leaf to be vaped. I like to start out
(using a Volcano) on a lower temperature, to absorb the flavinoids and lighter cannabinoids (like thc). Then I turn it up, to boil out the remaining heavier cannibinoids (like cbd). The hotter bags are more harsh but more powerful. You can also just set that shit to the "sweet spot" and just vape. Make sure to mix up the duff while you vape it. You'll never get as fucked up with a vape as you will with smoking, but you'll never have as clear of a high smoking as you will when vaping. I'd say the vape is perfect for those with a lot of weed or just smoking in the mornings. And that the volcano is just the fucking best (right now).

This is one of the most sound statements I have read, and agree with 100%. I have never been as high with any of my VAPOR devices as I have been using a SMOKING device.

But since vaping I really only smoke a few times a month.

Thanks mrCRC420 and ru4r341 again for replies! I agree about your statement mrCRC420. Very well laid out, cohesive and understandable.

I have also cut way back to almost never with smoking. I do still smoke a little kif(?sp) because it packs a punch and my throat and lungs feel much more able to handle it since I've been vaping almost exclusively for a month or so now!

Thanks again Gents! And Happy 420!

Hallo Sleepybud, unfortunately, it's absolutely normal, that the vapor will get harsh after a while. That's why I always recommend vaping with a water tool! Makes it much more smoother. Also there are water tools for nearly every popular vaporizer. I have a Vapir No 2 and there are these cool little h2o water tools! They are cheap, but do the job very well. The FlashVape has a similar water tool btw.
