Pics of led vs HPS on sister blue dream

I would tend to agree, unless the LED have a lens on them. I'm not sure what LED lamp you are using, but you can tell if it has a lens on the LEDs. If the LED is lensed, it will have a kind of a plastic cup in front of each emitter and you won't be able to see the actual LED. This little cup focuses the light, allowing it to penetrate further. Without a lens, LEDs are crap for distance.

The led side is the one with the more spread out but bigger colas. I'm kind of thinking the led would only outperform hps in yield is in sog or scrog type grow methods, even canopy and such. But if you're like me and like bigger plants, they're not quite as good on penetration.

I'm actually about to run a test here soon too, to see if its viable as well to switch from HPS to LED's. I will be keeping up with this to see of it all works out for you. Good luck.

what I will say right now is the led colas are kicking the hps colas asses, there's just four times as many under the hps.

BRO IM GLAD YOU DID THIS, i want to add some led into my 3200 watt setup NOW!!!!!!! subbd up. cruise by the link in my sig.
I think the perfect setup would be something like a 4x8 with 2 x 600s hps and one to three led panels as supplemental over the whole area, I think it would max out quality an quantity.

Generally not. The LEDs mount in a holder of sorts and the lens snaps into the holder. I'm really surprised most grow lights aren't built with these. It increases the intensity by a large margin. Really helps the LEDs get distance. You see it all the time on building fixtures and LED flood lights. Its not like its expensive to do.

Those aren't a lens. Its a little cap to protect the bare LED and act as a diffuser. Which further serves to reduce the light intensity further.

So it has bare leds and ones with caps, not lenses over them?

Yes. It depends on the type of LED. There are many different shapes and types. Flat surface mount to little capped leds. A lens would fit on a holder in front of the LED itself.

It will be hard to say without a proper light off picture. Its no big deal as its pretty hard to retro it unless you are chinese with a factory lol.

I am pretty surprised that almost none of the LED grow lights I've seen have lenses. Maybe it doesn't make enough of a difference in growing. When shining it up/dpwn a building it makes all the difference in the world.
