Default South Texas 08 Outdoor Grow So Far.
The Pea Patch has been over-run with "Egyptian Okra". It's terrible! I'm hoping to smoke them out later on. Most is home bred Afghan/Master Kush & Cali Orange Bud/Master Kush. There's a few Easy Sativa, Danky Doddle & THC Bomb here & there. Third pic is a 2ND harvested, rejuive Cali Orange Bud. So far so good.

Blazing sun, yes. Had to move them to partial shade. They are still young. In 30 plus days, they should be well on their way.

Looking good. Late afternoon sun in South Texas is a motherfucker! Even a hardy plant such as cannabis can get heat stressed. You are wise to shade them.

A hard & fast lesson I had to learn was the fucking black Nursery containers absorb the heat, hot to the touch on the sunshine side of the container. It bakes the moisture out of the soil. Next time, I'm going to get some of that 1/4 inch thick sterophone wrapping sheets and insolate the inside of the container. Also, cut down on the big drainage holes in these type of containers. Too much drainage is almost as bad as not enough drainage. Most of the plants love the hot sun, but the Easy Sativa does not. Live & Learn.

Cannabis in the ground is the optimum situation, of course. However, there are several good reasons to keep cannabis in containers. Primarily security-related.

Default container VS ground
Johnny,... excellent question. In Oct. of 07, I started my outdoor grow plan. Ordering seeds, finding the right place, etc. The goal was 70 to 100 females. The pics shown is just a partial of what is growing. The "proper" way to go is to plant in-ground. I would love to do so. Each plant needs a 2 Ft. X 2 Ft. X 3 Ft. hole dug..... , it would take a Back-Hoe to do the work. I did have access to a back-hoe. but didn't fell comfortable asking a smoking Friend to dig shit where I wanted to grow. There isn't any way I could dig into this shit, especially 70 to 100 times, thus the stupid-ass pots. As a reference as to the situation here, biggest drought since the 50's. Thus far, 80 gals. per every 2 days.

In reality, the question was not mine. That honor belongs to redking11, the Weed Baron.

There are many reasons to choose containers, yours is a pretty good one.

Good luck!
