if the area doesn't get much side lighting as u say...why do ya wanna top em and make them branch out more on sides?

Do a scrog grow  but proper lighting is essential.
What difference would it make if I grew them 8 feet instead of 12 if there is very little side lighting. My idea is to grow a canopy of colas and cut off most of the bottom growth that is only going to produce tiny buds. All I want is maximum yield from this set-up.If no one wants to help me out for whatever reason its fine.

I want to make the side branches catch up with the cola to create an even canopy to use up all the light possible.

So what you do is instead of growing them 8 feet verttically straight up you top them and train them to grow sideways.

With doing this you may end up getting more light and more yield. I ALWAYS crop mine. You take out the middle top stem about 5 nodes up the plant.

If you grow the saem plant 8 feet tall without topping what you end up with is one main cola in the middle and other smaller ones along the side but basically a christmas shape plant.

With the sun going form the east to the west you don't get even coverage . If you have them in pots you can rotate them daily but this becomes a lot to do if you have many plants.

With training them to grow horizontally you are taking full advantage of the sunlight.

If you want to really train them then you build a cage like device around them with wire links that you then weave the branches through. this way you end up with a more compact but dense plant with many bud sites.

Make sense???

Yes I am female and thank you for not calling me dude any more;)

and if i did grow them 8 feet then topped and waited for the side branches too catch up would i get a bigger yield than toppping it smaller?

Absolutely not. You would be defeating the purpose of topping then.
Topping encourages new growth. When you top and train your plant to grow where you want it to and trim off the right parts at the right time you actually strengthen your plant if done properly.:blsmoke:

There is a section here on the site that explains the method in detail. You might want to check that out PLUS you should take a boo at the advanced growing techniques. I suggest reading as much as you can before you start posting question in the advanced section.

I hope that helps. I decided to add it here instead of the pm just in case some others might be wondering the same thing. I am trying to be more helpful these days but I don't don't like to come across as an arogant know-it-all either:? if you know what i mean.

I have done some reading and have decided to LST instead of SCROG so that i do not have to go through the mission of putting up a wire mesh that will be in the way in case i need to move something around. From my reading i got the basic idea of how to LST so now I want the trees to max out at about 4-5 feet so that I have a huge canopy of colas on each tree. What i want to know is when to plant outside in Fla so that the plants will max out at 4 -5 feet when done flowering with clones starting at 6 inches to a foot tall and how to harden off if the site can only be visited once a week?

How is someone going to predict how your plant will grow, we only know u have an area that isn't lit well from the side, you want a rediculous yield, and you don't want your plants to get tall. Unfortunately the only way to figure this one out may be to get exerience. Are you just waiting for someone to tell you what you want to hear or what? Post some pictures of your grow area, and some info from the breeder of your seeds, their are millions of types of Blueberry/Mango seeds out there, each one with different characteristics than the one next to it. I have 2 seeds from the same plant growing in the same DWC, with the same amount of light/nutes and one is double the size of the other. Looks like you might just need to start them and see what happens. This isn't an exact science since their are so many variables.
