Outdoor Cloning? PICS included

I tried cloning outdoors a couple years back. Too hot, they wilted bad.

I had success cloning with under $20 with coco coir, clonex solution, and a packet of rooting gel sample that the shop owner gave me in trade for some girl scout cookies. (The cookies, not the weed.)

You'll also need to spend about $7 at homedepot on a light bulb,plug socket, and extension cord. Hook that shits up to a cardboard box and you're good go. I got roots in 17 days. I will never say that my cloning technique is the best, but its cheap, easy, and it works.

If another poster does have outdoor cloning methods, I'd love to learn something new.

There was a method of cloning that I tried but not successfully awhile back. You take a rockwool cube split in half and wrap around a branch on your plant. Keep it in place somehow. I used plastic wrap but yeah that didn't work so good. Keep the rockwool moist and eventually that part will get roots, snip, plant and grow.

In regular horticulture, I think this is called layering.

Hey MJ! Ive done clones outside but it really matters how hot it is that day! You can have them out but not in FULL sun,But that I mean choose a lighty shaded area to put them in.I got roots within a week Ill make a guide when I can cut more off of mine,Thats if I can!Hope That helped somewhat

I just root my clones inside. To me it's just easier to monitor them to make sure the conditions are right for life. Can only do so much in nature vs play god indoors.

If you simply type your very words "step-by-step guide for cloning plants (marijuana) outdoors?" into Google, you'll get a ton of helpful links.

Some supplies you will need:

Scalpel, razor...or a knife that is very, very sharp will do. You want to make a nice clean cut. After you cut the clone, make several other sharp angled cuts part-way into the part you just cut. Each partial clean cut will give the new clone a place to establish a few starter roots.

Get some cloning gel/powder. It's cheap, and you can buy it anywhere (Walmart/Home Depot/Lowes, local gardening center) for $3 or $4. If it's powder, after you cut the branch you wanna clone, quickly dip the clone end you cut into water, then quickly dip it into the cloning powder. If you have the gel, cut and quickly dip in cloning gel, then plant.

Plant your clone in whatever outdoor medium you're gonna use, and mist it with a spray bottle. You could buy one of those cheap trays with peat-moss pellets/pucks that expand when you add water. They come with a plastic tray lid, which after misting your plants would keep humidity high. If there isn't vent holes in the plastic tray lid, cut a couple to allow for some fresh air.

Try to keep the freshly cut clones out of direct sunlight for at least a week.

Check on them every day if possible, and spray the leaves with a spray bottle when you do.

You'll lose some, but you'll also have some that pull through and do fine. The more you can do, the better odds for successful cloning obviously.

Okay thanks a lot. Which part of the plant is best for cloning? newer leaves or old, those with a full 5-leaf set or the top sprout, etc.

I clone outdoors in florida... Does not get to hot.
