How close is to close for pine trees? I have been told that the pines are acidic or something and it will kill plants. Is that true?

look at your spot where the tree is?Anything dead around it??I bet not.You should be fine.

I planted grass seeds in a yard, and where the pine tree was, that was the greenest spot in the yard!

No that wont happen, what can be a problem tho is the trees roots invading freshly prepared holes and leaching them before or during the season.

Pine trees grow in acidic soil which is not so good for weed. They also shed needles and cones, which are not good for your growth environment. On the other hand, small pine trees can provide great camoflage. My plots are surrounded by pines.
