Default Self Watering Pots?
Im planning to grow some outdoor buds at a friends farm this spring. While deciding what would be the best way of performing this wonderful act, I stumbled upon a self watering planter. I was wondering if anyone has ever used a self watering pot for an outdoor grow op.

How long do you think it would take a single plant to consume 5 gallons of solution? Could you bury the base to add stability? Any instructions on how to make my own and save some green?

Heres a link to the pots

Great find. I think it would work, you would just need to check the resivoir for water to make sure it was never dry. For support I would dig a hole for the resivoir but only deep enough so the acctual pot itself is still above ground. So when you go to add new water you just lift the pot up add new water and place it back down. This could work out really well. Do you know if they will ship one of these to Canada?

Youre in luck my wonderful Canadian neighbor. " We send Canadian orders by UPS Standard. We insure all shipments. Delivery usually takes 4 - 10 days." We should share notes this spring.

Make sure you can adjust those robot planters' watering cycles. if they still water ur plants on a rainy day, u might end up with moldy or dead plants.

That is a great find. I found something similar but not as pretty on ebay:

I think the website said it monitors the soil and only adds water when the soil begans to become dry. So if it rains you may be ok, but I would definattly go out and check to make sure you arent drowning them. I think I am going to purchase 4 of them, I will let you know how it goes with a grow journal.

Both of these models use a fabric wick setup, so no electric componants. but ur plants will alwase be wet, so ur roots will have a hard time breathing. is that common for out door ops?

I think the wick only goes far enough into the soil so that osmosis takes over. That would just keep the general soil moist. And we will be growing in a small portable greenhouse. such this one right mur ->
