Purple Stems and Leaves

I have been reading thru a few threads and have come across several discussions about the purple stems. I have a couple seed plants that turned purple at the second set of leaves. They have stayed that way. since germination I repotted them 3 times and finally put them in bags a month before they went in the ground. I used happy frog potting soil none of the others are purple just these. its not just stems though its the bottom of the leaves also. the underside of the leaves all purple.

purple stems and leaves is a sign of some nutrient deficiency always?

currently one of the two is the biggest plant on the east side. 12 feet tall 32 feet around. hate to think it could have been even bigger =(

Aye its a big plant but I have a few more seed plants on the east side experiment that are very near that. Everyone digs holes and fills them with dirt. Since I already had 24 holes with dirt in them I added a bag of perilite, 2 bags of chicky doo doo, one bag of steer and for giggles a brick of coco husks. on the east side I turned it over. I dug a trench with the cat 2 feet deep 10 wide (the blade) then I got one yard of base jumper one yard of some black crap thats supposed to be the best in the valley nothing alive in it weird stuff. added the same bags of crap as the holes but I made piles every 10 feet in the trenches. I flattened the piles down to about 2 feet or the old ground level. so basically I grew them in a pile of dirt that was so soft you could push your open hand in a foot. I discovered a couple things so far. since what I have here is pure clay the stickiest crap you have ever seen. you can dig a hole pour a gallon of water in it four days later still water in the hole. I am going to assume the roots are not going to deep into that. one of the piles is only 18 inches deep from the top down to the clay. its a little bigger around nearly the 10 feet across. the plant growing in it is number two in size. from what I see the most important thing is how big around the pile is next year I am going to try one or 2 that are 1 foot deep maybe I can cut soil cost as I plan to take em all out of the holes and into trenches next season. if its not raining to hard I will take some pics tomorrow I got batteries for the camera now heh. I love my 2 purple plants though. as they were seeds of a questionable origin I get to name them. "Tacoma" maybe you will try some one day =)

As far as how close to harvesting Tacoma I am? The 2 are actually the slowest it seems I may have to cover them before its said and done. They hav'nt started to reach yet. barely clubbing I call it they have buds but they are not thickening yet. Silver kush has buds 6 inches thick they are getting close. 911's were a waste one in a hole the other in a pile. barely cleared 4 foot tall. did the same thing last year never shoulda cloned it but the taste was sweet. Plagued by some fungus on the stem. with 54 plants I couldnt give them the attention I should have. I got 2 blackberries that are just covered with white powder mold. The were a pain because I couldnt tie em down. way to thick, they didnt open up till they started to flower then I got to see the mold. I dont want to use some chemical to be rid of it and I read several ways to fight it here but mostly indoor. I decided on milk 5 parts water 1 part milk gonna blast em every 3 or 4 days. they dont get the rain every other evening either. hope that helps. Sure glad the majority are frost clones dont have to do much to them but watch it seems bug resistant mold and cold as well just tie em down till you run out of twine heh

My pond has become acidic I assume since it has not rained in 2 months here and I water a big lawn and of course the girls. It was 10 feet deep now is 2 and 3 I was wondering if I could take my dingie out and dump some lime in it. unhook the pump and put an elbow on it and spin the water in the pond (using 5 horse submersible) water PH atm is 4.5 or so I gotta do something its bringing my soil down to around 6 mostly on the low side like 5.8 its supposed to rain today (fingers crossed)

Also purple stems and leaves can be caused by cold temps, what climate are you in?

Ive got a short rider that has started purpleing after a light frost

hey sweetjewels here
would like some info from you boys as how to get my plant to flower.she's inside under the bud light bud she seems kinda slow to bloom been there a couple weeks no progress that I can verify with my eyes she is a deep green, with purple veins running in her vines to the leaf is she missing some goods? how much time on the light should she be?

i gotta see some pics, sounds like a great setup..as far as the lime in the pond..i think no..i would use your pump to fill up a small pool and then adjust that water ph by adding ph up...i don't think you can use the pool supply ph up...you need the garden safe stuff ..but get that water corrected and water the plants from that..now how did you get powdery mildew if it has not rained in 2 months..i assume it has been extremely dry..neem oil helps and is safe to use in flowering stage to combat that..a plant that size could get out of control easily when the spores spread..you may be better off making hash of that plant..good luck

I have a couple blackberry clones I got that I am going to assume came with it. They were so stiff I couldnt tie em down couldnt even open them up till they started to flower. The milk has been knocking it back.
I have been repairing and caging them up I wasnt quite ready for the rain and I had a BIG mess.

Took this almost a month ago things have changed a lot. I have only the 2 bigguns in the trenches as they were near 2 months late going in wish I coulda got even 3 weeks more before they started flowering but still respectable. Never mind the mumbling someone was dipping into the stash.
