Plant Yield for Outdoor Growing

You don't have to LST or top or anything like that. Training does not affect yield, it does, however, help provide uniform bud growth. A plant trained properly will have lots of equal sized nugs, where as your plant, if you still leave it alone, will have a giant main cola, and some other larger nugs, with a bunch of medium-small sized nugs.

Here is an example of my plant that I scrogged, super cropped, and topped.

Honestly, brands don't matter that much. You need a small bottle of the stuff for veg, high in N (nitrogen), and a larger bottle of the flowering stuff, high in P (phosphorous).
True that brands don't matter too much. Kind of true about npk values. You want to make sure that FOR ALL STAGES OF GROWTH your potassium (k) is double your phosphorous. Mel Frank and Ed Rosenthal have the proper ratios laid out for each stage of growth. I took this from Beansly's post about NPK ratios:
Veg: 3-1-2
Early Bloom: 2-1-2
Mid Bloom: 1-1-2
Late Bloom: 0-1-2
Excess phosphorous (P) won't hurt your plant too much, it will just probably just make older growth start to yellow, which I think is a bad thing, but some people like to prune anyway. I personally think that if you can keep a whole plant alive, then you will maximize your yield, but to each there own.

I would not say that training does not affect yield.. It can greatly affect the yeild of a plant, why do you think so many people use so many different methods? For example i have seen plants that have been scrog'd, which helped the plant utilize more light because of increased surface area, and im sure the yeild was significantly more than if they grew it untrained.

Scrogged plants have even distribution, indoors I scrog, there should be a few pictures up here that show my stuff, but that doesn't increase yield, it just makes all my nugs the same size. If you have the propper reflection and don't fuck up your plant, your yield isn't going to change significantly.

Oh well if thats the case then fuck it, im not touching my plants anymore and ill just let them grow. I always thought the more you train the more you got. Thanks for the info.

hey guys just saw this thread about plant yield and was wondering what these plants might bring in this year. they get dutch nutrient formula grow and bloom ferts. thats the store brand for home grown hydroponics the stores in my areas. they get direct sun from about 9:00am to sundown in ontario.

anyway here are a few pics they are a little old maybe a week just measured and the plants stand 5' exactly well 4 do and the other 4 are from 3-4' and still growing

at my 2nd growing season (never tried indoor growing), but i totally agree with icculus.

i think that taking good care of the plant and all its needs will provide more or less the same amound if topped, lstd, fimmed or whatever.

however, i do think that topping promotes a little bit more of what i call "green growth", my only topped plant is a bit bushier than others of the same genetics that wasn't topped.
other than that? i see no big difference.

i also fimmed one plant, side branches maybe little higher than normal plants branches, but we'll see.

DUDE! the thing about excess P might be my problem. I have a very healthy plant somewhere around 2 weeks in flower. lots of lower leafs are starting to yellow the last 2-3 weeks. when thinking about it - maybe it started around the time i started feeding bloom nutes. at least it's healthy. ah....

you should switch to miracle gro bloom booster...same price as the mg tomato but the numbers are 15-30-15.....start your flowering nutes now and it will show bud formation within a couple weeks...

Id say 5-8 ounces, and i also think topping/supercropping/LST'ing help.. Here is my current SSH that was topped eatly and then LST'd..

"I top all plants to be honest its rare a plant wont perform better.
The contridiction is Topping slows JTR down a good bit in veg"
