Default Please help me decide...
Hi,this year is going to my first serious attempt at a decent harvest, and I have some questions:
1) Is it a good idea to do indoor and outdoor (somebodyelses land) at the same time?
2) If doing outdoor what is the safe # of plants or size of the area and how dense can i plant them to avoid detection .
3)How is the swamp enviorment, there is plenty of water( is it too much?),at the edge there is also plenty of sunshine(but is too visible from the air?) there is alot of stagnant and rotting vegetation will this affect the plants?
Any more advice on finding a good location, finding good seeds, and avoiding detectionwill be apretiated...

1. Indoor is safer. A lot of bad things can happen to an outdoor crop.

2. There is no safe # of plants outdoors. They either do good or something bad happens.

3. Swamp not good. Grow indoors.

Hmmmm.

2. Still no safe number of plants outside. Weird stuff can happen. I had my first outdoor crop go perfect. The second has a diaster (bugs). The third was so so (bugs again even with spraying).

3. Swamp land does not lend itself to good soil for pot. Try the double potting method. Dig a very big hole and fill that hole in with potting soil. Then put a 5 gallon container into that hole. You will put your plant into the contain. Be sure that there are huge holes in the bottom. This way your plants roots will grow out into the hole.

Or you can just grow in 5 gallon containers sitting on top of the soil. Whatever works best for you. I hope I explained myself enough.

Hey Krime, my personal opinion on indoor/outdoor is to only do one at a time as the stresses of one alone are enough to focus on if you sincerely wish to provide the best possible care.

Mogie is 100% correct as there is no safe # of plants to avoid outdoor detection. The kicker is what they are looking for........... they look for neat rows in secluded places, therefore do not create a typical garden, there is also the heat signature thing we all hear about........ true if the plants are grouped together, but then, the visable signature is there as well......you gotta' keep 'em seperated. 15-20 foot intervals should be a safe distance for the plants but the farther the better.
Swamp environments - through experience, it takes a very carefully placed plant to obtain benefits from a swamp. I wouldn't venture into that type of a challenge without a fair amount of experience. It can work very well, a kind of soil/hydroponic mix but it is rather high maintenance.
The best bet is many plants over many areas. Stay away from beaten paths and if you perceive a compromised grow, chances are good you're right. Be prepared to abandon those plants that you feel may be known by others.

Good luck and good growing.
