I intend on posting this in several forums to try and receive any ideas or answers upon the subject and I need desperate help with this.
Recently I have been having problems with my internet and @ first it caused me no concern whatsoever, just inconveince……I use mozilla firefox and when some select pages finish loading it shuts the entire firefox window out…… Ive looked at all the setting on my computer and they haven’t been changed and are set the way it was before the problem started occurring.

Recently I downloaded limewire and a hash making video that I used to have on my old pc. I only got limewire because I wanted the specific video and I didn’t remember the web url, so when I finished with limewire I deleted it (just don’t care for the program)

I asked a friend of mine that knows everything about computers from the ground up and he said that it sounds like someone got my ip address and are using it to fuck with me…….
So if this is so how would I go about preventing it, and what access would they have to my computer.
My friend couldent tell me. Im assuming since they can close firefox then they may be able to browse other files that I have on my pc and some of it I wouldent want other untrusted eyes to be prying into……..
Im thinking that someone may be trying to monitor my activites because of the video that I downloaded from limewire…… I know limewire isn’t that dangerous because of the video but the fact that I downloaded it and I just got dsl last week from my phone company and I don’t know if they screen anything that is being viewed/downloaded by their customers or not. The way they told me to set the dsl up called for setting the ip address to be aqquired automatically, so I am also assuming that this built a network directly between my pc and something/someone at the phone company.

Any ideas, suggestions, ANYTHING would be appreciated.
I don’t have internet explorer to try it with.

Download sunbelt software counterspy and run it. It will run through your comp and get rid of a ton o shit. Also download spy bot search and destroy, run that too, it will clean other things as well.

a spy ware program wont detect an open ended ip leech if there is one being used. Limewire is the worst of all download programs to use as its an open ender used p2p database meaning you agree to open your ports to general public to search your harddrive allowing anyone with a little know how to browse your computef ro ohh tax info, passwords, account passwords, picture, video anything you have there. What kind of connection do you use?If its cable or dsl try to unplug your modem and let it sit for 10 minutes.Some companies use a rolling ip instead of static so it will reissue you a new one when the modem is reset.Try using a different browser and then go to googl and search for free proxy server and use one of those to sign into a web site and see if that works. You basically get a generic ip supplied for free through a proxy so its not traceable to you.If you wanna download stuff and not get in trouble you need a closed sharing system where you choose the file from a direct user not an open ended library for all to view and follow back to your computer. Get BitComet - A free C++ BitTorrent/HTTP/FTP Download Client its much safer.Then choose to turn off all shared files on your computer so you dont let anyone get files from you so no way to have your ports followed.Be very careful as limewire and bearshare are bad ones to use.If torrents are too scarey for you then ww.warez.com is another good site for p2p but can have some security holes if you dont lose your system out.Good luck

maybe not because of that video no, but when you have as many unlawfull activites as i do going on, there is reason to be concerned if anything seems to float funny to me. i firmly believe that 90%+ of people get that busted do so because they get careless. they start to feel comfortable with what they are doing and forget to pay attention to the details........
and when my virus protection program starts bringing things like THIS up, i get quite concerned.

If you have a router it should block all that shit automatically. Hackers are constantly scanning the web for vulnerable computers. Nothing serious because it all gets blocked if you have a decent firewall in place. IMHO Kaspersky Internet security is THE shit.

That post doesnt look funny if your using limewire.2 things do you use a router? If so did you set your nat setting after the first use as the router will block it if its not allowed like with some video games.Also yeah if yur security and firwall setting wernt given manula permission by you for lime wire it would auto block the program and limewire does modify your browser as it has hidden trackers by design to hijack your browser and trace cookies so manulally go through and look for all limewire or shareware left overs as it hides them in system folders and in your cookies.

I am telling you, you have probably a highjacker on your system. Please download sunbelt software counter spy....trust me, i had some whacked out shit with my work laptop. I am an IT consultant...as far as I will take my career....I know a thing or two about computers....you have to KISS, "Keep it simple stupid"

My browerser would do crazy shit, wouldnt let me search web sites etc...ran that counter spy and it removed the trojan and highjackers that were on my machine....

I have mcafee for virus ans run spybot as well and they couldn't clean what I had, counter spy did,

Not only does it check files people, it cleans the registery and anything in memory too...
