    Default How Much Soil?

    the area im planning on planting my plants next year has horrible soil. Im planning on buying a ton of potting soil and digging a hole for each plant, then filling it with the soil. But my problem is i dont know how much to use for each plant. The average bag is aobut $4 and 1cu foot of soil. Is 1cu foot or soil enough for the roots to grow?

    dude, just go bye some 5 gallon grow bags and plant them in the soil, and heres a good soil to make, 60% poting soil, 15% perlite, 15% bildingsand, 5% wormcastings, 5% npk pre-mix (batgwono).

    Like wise guy said around 5 gallons each. The bag idea is pretty good. Or dig holes and place pots in there also. It might help if you need to move them for any reasons.

    Definatly at least 5 gallons worth. If you can get 5 gallon buckets for cheap/free somewhere they work great and are easy to relocate if nessicary. A lot of resturants and construction supplys come in these buckets and are thrown away every day so you can usualy get them for FREE.

    If you bury the buckets dont forget drainage holes and a little gravel or sand beneth them to help drainage.

    ya i agree, if you can swoop up some 5 gallon buckets, that would be best. Grow bags are more of a one time thing. Anyways like 420`GUY said you do need alot of holes in the bottom, and perlite is one more that offers good drainage for the bottom two inches.
