i'd say depends on plot size....you want it to cover the perimeter if possible...but if it's a small plot and you put it near the plants i'm sure that'd be fine too

break up that bar into pieces that are just big enough that they won't dissolve over the course of your grow

yea break them up. and when my grandmother was still alive she would hang a half a bar or so a few feet of the ground where she thought the deer were walking in from. she had nice gardens. not ganja.just perennials for her.
