    Default Controlling for animals eating

The big problem here is the Bushtail Possum which is different from the American Opossum.

I have done a fair bit of internet research on how to deter these pests.

Cages are too hard to build. They take too much time, are non stealth and when the plants get big then they start busting out. So, I am trying to find the best way to deter via product application.

I have tried Thiram and it doesn't work at all.

Additionally, I know that Blood and bone/blood doesn't worry them.

I am trying something that I read on the net and that is spraying hot chilli onto the leaves.

However, the thing that I am most interested in is the use of eggs. Has anyone heard of wiping egg with a sticking agent on the plants to keep the possums away. This seems to be a fairly common method but I am worried that it will attract them rather than repel them.

I believe many animals do not like the odor of mothballs.

I sprinkle mothballs around the plants and they let off quite a bit of odour so I think that they might be good.

I have also read that human hair and faeces/urine might be good so I will try the human hair side of that. I can't crap enough to go around.

That chilli method is bs. I put a lot of chilli on the seedlings with a lot of sticking agent. When I went back to check on them, I had a taste of one of the leaves and it tasted more like seasoning than anything else.

Liquid Fence..... it's not cheap but it works like nobody's business. If you have a weak stomach then I suggest you wear a charcoal filter mask. It smells to the human nose for several hours until it dries, after that it is only distinguised by deer/rabbits/rodents. It is made of putrified eggs and garlic. If you ever try it, wear gloves and do NOT get it on you unless you are a batchelor with a nice porn collection, otherwise good luck getting close to somebody for a few hours.

Try urineating around your crop....3-5 feet from the plants.
