Post Is It too cold????
Okay so i have 3 plants all flowering, they are all at the end of their 2nd week of flowering, the only problem is that i live in Michigan, and the weather here is getting bad, its starting to get very cold and has been rainy (perfect weather for a purple plant ) , but other than that im worried that my plant wont survive..i was wondering if anyone had any tips or expierience with growing in cold weather? will it be okay to leave the plant out overnight? or what should i do?

My plants are in the ground and have endured several frosts now, plus all sorts of rain, cold and wind, and they are fine. One night it went under 30 for awhile and they had frost on the buds, but recovered fine. Are your plants potted? If you can bring them into a shed or garage over night do I would do it.

Yeah okay so the weather for the next week says it should be in the 50's and sunny which is perfect and lows of 40-30 degrees at night, and yes my plants are potted...could having them either potted or put into the ground have affects on weither or not they make it through the cold and frost? or does it not matter?

In the ground the roots are better insulated from the cold so yes in the ground is better for cold temps. If you can't take your plants inside at night at least wrap the roots up with a blanket or something and find a big piece of plastic to cover your plants at night. I'm in Indiana not too far from you and I've got 3 plants that are still flowering. They were in the ground but I transplanted them back to pots. They are now in an outdoor greenhouse that has a space heater in it. The greenhouse is made of a tarp material so it barely keeps the temps from falling too low. I'd say it's about 58 degrees in there at night and about 70 during the day if the sun is out. My plants are loving in there too. I just hope they finish up before it gets too cold, I'm spending a fortune on electricity running that space heater 24/7.

Nope.... I don't think ur going to make it.... but if you do....there won't be much yield.

If your temp. highs are already JUST in the 50's, ur plant IF it grows much, will do it in slow motion. Weed needs at least 50 degrees for 5 hours to stay ON....but barely. The warmer it is, the FASTER and FULLER the grow. Of course there are limits as to top temp/optimum growing, just like a bottom of 50+ degrees.

I'm in this same type of situation with some VERY slow flowering sativas. You nailed it right on the head this cold is just making it even slower, I already know they wont finish I'm just waiting to pull the plug pretty much. oh well, they were free seeds I got with my purchase. still woulda been nice tho. just in case anyone in the northern climate is wondering do not plant Power Skunk from g-13 labs seed co. *they will not finish. lol!
