females flower before males?

Can females pre flower before the males?first?
The patch is starting to mature and the plants are showing their sex. There are 5 plants with white hair pre flowers but the others don't and are hard to call.
These others do not have the white hairs nor do they have the "balls on a stick" I have read about. They do have a distinct claw, beak or mandible-type growth at the internode. Are these males? Should I wait to see if the plants are females and risk pollenating the 5 females or just get rid of the plants that are not showing pistels?

If your not sure don't kill em. As long as you catch the males early enough, your girls won't be pollinated. But as soon as you see know it's a male kill it.

The claw like appendage thingy you described sounds to be male. Yes, its possible for females to show sex first, but generally speaking, males do show first. Don't pull until you're ABSOLUTLY sure. I made the same mistake this year...Good luck.

males are usually taller than females too-so consider that too, but all also depends what food and if any has been used.males mature faster so thats why they taller too, smaller ones are fems usually

You have at least a week after you see pre flowers before the males spray their load all over your grow, so yeah what everyone else said, and you'll know the male once it comes up. If you study the tops of the plants you can see how the males and females flower differently, but its slight

the claw i'm thnking will open up to reveal the male "balls," and as the plant grows, so will the stick they're growing on. thanks for all the replies. i will wait 2-3 days more, and then will concentrate on growing the fems i have. thanks again.

usually males show first. At least in my experience.
Give it time so to be sure it is a male. If you know you have females you'll be able to see real soon which are male.
