Hmmm...I've been observing mine pretty closely and haven't seen anything close to resembling pre-flowers. Going back to what farmer2424 was asking then...about how long after the solstice will/should I notice any sexing? I realize that outdoor plants are lazier than indoor. Will this affect the timeframe? Thanks for the help!

Here's an extreme closeup of one of my NL's stem, new growth. I can't see any signs of pre-flowers. THe pic is from late yesterday afternoon.

Look closer to the top, at the new growth. Most of mine are showing now and other people are saying the same thing. Many preflower when they reach sexual maturity -- start alternating nodes -- regardless of light schedule.

Thanks Angus for your reply. Okay, so another newbie question for you then. What really should I be looking for, for signs of preflowers next to the new growth. Where should I be looking? Any pics would greatly help.
Thanks Angus. +rep to you!

As you can see on some of those, between the main stem and the new growth coming from the node, you should see some little pinhead sized growths. At first female and male look very similar, but a few days after they are first seen, the female preflowers will be more elongated and there will only be two at each node, one on either side of the new growth. Males will be rounder, almost ball shaped and after a couple days there will be two-four or more grouped together.

They may be hard to distinguish at first, just be patient. They will become obvious after a few days, and far before the time that any males can hurt your females.

Here's a pic of a male, probably ten days or so after the preflowers were first visible:

Bear with me Angus...I appreciate your patience!
After reading your last post I went out to my garden and tried to get some extreme close up pics of my plants. I looked for what you told me, and these are what I found. Any thoughts?

Sorry for the abundance of pictures, but I wanted to get every possible angle and possibility. Hopefully this helps everyone else in the rooms too.
Angus...your turn please, and thanks again for your pics. One of them didn't come out though...but I see what you're saying though.

I can't see anything definitive in 1,3,4, or 5, and 2 looks like it hasn't begun to show yet. Give it a bit more time.
