I have had much success growing indoors, but this is my first grow outdoors, and these girls are getting HUGE! and its still early in the grow season. I am growing three strains; Armageddon, Power Skunk, and White Widow.
I know big plants = big yield and I've seen the wild stuff around here grow to be taller than 8ft, but the wild stuff is only 3-4 ft. tall right now and my power skunk is 6 ft tall and the Armageddon isn't far behind. The white widow im not concerned about as it was planted late and is only about 18 inches tall. I'll have you know I haven't done anything to these plants yet, other than take a few clones and top a few Armageddons. I'm sure its the same concept as indoor growing(same common goal) but this is on a much bigger scale than I am use to, so I was wondering if some of you outdoor growers could give me some advice on how to care for these green giants to ensure they stay healthy and bring me good buds. |

i dont have any pics yet but i anticipate sharing some pics with you guys in due time... I started indoors with nutes until they were about 18-20 inches tall then i transplanted them outdoors...hmm i dont remember the exact date but it was around the first week of may. and since then i have only watered them once and only used nutes in that one watering. They all look really great, they have faded to a lighter shade of green than they use to be as they arent getting all that nitrogen anymore. A few of them were getting bothered(nothing major) by these damn spiders that instead of building webs they form these balls of foam that shrivel the leaves they build them on....ive tried finding info about pest control but just decided to let nature take its course, nature finds its own way to survive i guess, although im tempted to go buy some insecticide thats safe for tomatoe plants for example.. everything is going well, Im just afraid these things are gonna get too big for their own good even. harvest will be in mid october....or after the first frost? an old dude told me always harvest after the first frost no matter what....(???)

well here are the pics I promised....Starting with my garden decorations (wild weed) and before you get all crazy on me, know that all the males are taken care of when the time comes. Its gonna be a lot of extra work but I'm hoping I don't get any seeds here.

If you didnt notice in my other picture of Armageddons I have a problem with one of my plants. There is something drillin holes in my stems and causing everything above it to die. Has anyone ever encountered these pests before and if so how can I get rid of the damn thing(s)

I'd spray some neem oil, soap/water, or any homemade gardening insect deterrent on them (there's a lot of recipes out there). Otherwise, I'm jealous of your grow location. Wish I could find something besides swampland and isolated palm hammocks around here.
![]() Oh and to answer your question about pruning - my advice is that unless you have a need to control their height, I wouldn't prune or top them. It's a debatable subject though. |
