Default What does HOT DRY weather do to buds?
I can't find a definitive answer on this.

I've read that high heat and dry conditions are great for cannabis, in that it encourages resin production. This makes sense to me.

And then, I've also read that cannabis STOPS growing in high heat situations (90 + degrees F). Do they only grow at night when the sun drops?

One of my plots is located out in the country on top of a large tree covered hill, with some full sun bald spots where I plan to put a couple plants in the ground.

I know it will get very hot up there for them, and I'm worried about how they will respond to the heat...

plants can thrive at hotter climates..outdoors..not much u can do outside to bring up ur humidity.. during bud youll c that increased resin from low RH values..but im sure depending if u get a hardy strain or not..when the temps soar in veg and its dry youll c it in the leafs..make sure to stay on top of watering during long summer days..

I agree...watch your watering. Weed loves full hot sun. Just keep the soil well irrigated.

Outdoors temps dont really matter after the plants are established. High humidity can be a problem during flower because it can cause bud mold and other bud diseases if you have a strain with heavy fat buds. If your in a area with high humidity you want to pick a strain that is mold resistant. Indoors plants stop growing at 85 degrees and high humidity causes the same problems as outdoors. Plus low humidity indoors creates thin weak foliage. Indoors temps should be between 65 and 85 degrees and humidity is good around 40-60% for veg and 40-50% for flower.

Thanks for the replies.

I was thinking about the water crystals to keep water in the soil. I was also going to add perlite/vermiculite for more retention and aeration. Do the water crystals/polymers really work?

if you can't get there a lot, use a 5 gal. bucket with a length of 1/4" black irrigation hose, or similar clear hose...attatch it to a hole in the bottom of the bucket, and seal around the hole...paint it grey and khaki; an voila! you have a portable drip system.

It makes them grow big and strong, provided they have enough water and root space.

Outdoor plants will take the heat... mine sit where my AC blows on them, and 100% humidity and 90-100f here is common in the summer and they love it..
Inside is another story...
